The Persecution Suffered by Twelve Falun Gong Practitioners at the Maoming Petroleum Chemical Corporation in Guangdong Province

Aug. 21, 2007

(Clearwisdom.net) Since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, the 610 Office heads in the Maoming Petroleum Chemical Corporation, Jiang Chenglin, Li Weisong, and Luo Ji; the political head of the Maoming West Public Security Bureau's National Security Team Xu Hualiu; team leader Li Huanchao; deputy director Ke Jianing; members of the Retirement Management Office; and members of the neighborhood associations have participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. They illegally monitor practitioners and tap practitioners' phone lines. They order practitioners to constantly report their whereabouts during holidays. They use some idlers in the company to go to practitioners' workplaces and residences to harass their families. Without any legal procedures or documents, they frequently ransack practitioners' residences and take away their personal belongings. They arrest practitioners and imprison them in brainwashing centers, detention centers, forced labor camps, and prisons. They fire practitioners from their jobs or withhold their salaries and retirement pensions. Some practitioners have lost their families or become destitute as a result of this persecution.

Yang Xingzhi started practicing Falun Gong in January 1996. In February 2000, along with many others, he signed a letter to be presented to the Central Government that explained the facts about Falun Gong. Because of that, his residence was ransacked. Policemen confiscated his copy of Zhuan Falun. After that, personnel from the 610 Office, Public Security Bureau, the Retirement Management Office, and his job frequently called or went to his residence to harass him. They also had someone monitor and search him. In addition, they threatened him and tried to force him to write the three statements renouncing the practice of Falun Gong.

Yu Shaoying started practicing Falun Gong in January 1996. In October 1999, she visited a detained practitioner, but in turn was detained for two days because the staff at the Guandu Police Station suspected that Yu Shaoying gave the practitioner Dafa materials. Her residence was ransacked and her copy of Zhuan Falun was confiscated. On October 3, 2000, her residence was ransacked again after she was reported to the police for practicing Falun Gong. This time, some of her Dafa books and materials were taken away. In addition, people from the Maoming West Public Security Bureau detained her for three hours. On September 26, 2001, she was arrested by people from the Maoming West Public Security Bureau at the Big Meadow [the central square in Maoming]. The next day, she was sent to the Maoming #2 Detention Center, where she was detained for 15 days. After that, she was detained in the brainwashing center for over a month and forced to write the three statements. During the holidays, people from the 610 Office, the Maoming Public Security Department, and her workplace often went to her residence to harass her and her family.

Wang Yulan is 66 years old. She started practicing Falun Gong in January 1996. On January 24, 2000, she added her signature to a letter protesting the beating of Dafa practitioners by policemen from the National Security Bureau. On February 2, her residence was ransacked by policemen from the Maoming West Public Security Department, who also ordered her to open her dresser, but she refused, so a policeman fiercely struck her twice in the chest. Then she was taken to the Maoming West Public Security Department and detained there for 12 hours until her relatives firmly demanded her release. From that point on, people from the Public Security Department, the Retirement Management Office, and her workplace frequently called her or went to her residence to harass her and her family members. In the evening on September 26, 2001, she went to take a walk near the Big Meadow area, where many people were enjoying the cool air. Suddenly five or six police vehicles from both the Maoming South and West Public Security Departments drove to the area. Several dozen uniformed and undercover police officers rushed out of the vehicles and immediately surrounded the Big Meadow area. They arrested several people. Wang Yulan was one of those arrested. She was first detained at the Maoming South Public Security Department and later transferred to the Maoming West Public Security Department. The next day, she was transferred again to the Maoming #2 Detention Center, where they detained her for 15 days. During that time, the guards instigated drug addicts, prostitutes, and other inmates to monitor her so that she could not practice Falun Gong. They also tried to force her to write the three statements, but she refused. Because of that, she was transferred to the brainwashing center for further persecution. Her husband was sick for over a month, but the authorities still would not release her. They only allowed her to go see him at noon and in the evening everyday. One day at noon, she fainted and was sent to the hospital, where doctors had to perform surgery. After the surgery, her state of mind was unclear and she was unable to recognize anyone. She was unable to eat or talk, but just kept crying out, "Unjust!" On March 30, she passed away.

On September 26, 2001, Lu Yaofang, Lu Dinger, and Zhou Yuezhen were arrested in the Big Meadow area and detained at the Maoming #2 Detention Center for 15 days. After that, they were transferred to the brainwashing center. They were not allowed to practice the Falun Gong exercises and were forced to write the three statements. People from the 610 Office, the Public Security Department, the Retirement Management Office, and their workplaces frequently went to their residences or called to harass them.

Zhong Kunlian is handicapped and unable to move about freely. In September 2001, she was arrested in the Big Meadow area and detained at the Maoming #2 Detention Center for over 15 days. They tried to force her to write the three statements, but she refused. She was also frequently harassed and threatened by the Public Security Department and 610 Office. As a result, her physical condition deteriorated and at present, she cannot take care of herself.

Mr. Wu was arrested in September 2001 in the Big Meadow area and detained at the Maoming #2 Detention Center for 15 days. He was also transferred to the brainwashing center afterwards and forced to write the "three statements." The authorities threatened him and did not allow him to practice the Falun Gong exercises. Similarly, people from the Public Security Department, 610 Office, and the Retirement Management Office frequently went to his residence or called to harass him.

Huang Xianfeng signed her name on a letter of appeal, and in 2000, her residence was searched by Huang Zhou, head of the #3 Office of the Maoming West Public Department. Her Dafa books and tapes were confiscated. The plant director of her workplace, Wu Yuewei, forced her to undergo brainwashing sessions everyday for one hour. Everyday, she had to report to him twice, once in the morning and once in the evening. She was forced to write the three statements and could not practice the Falun Gong exercises. During the holidays, people from the 610 Office, the Public Security Department, and her workplace went to her residence or called her to constantly harass her. On July 24, 2005, five or six police vehicles with more than 15 policemen and undercover officers went to her residence and ransacked it. They confiscated Teacher's lectures and detained her in the brainwashing center. She was released two days later due to her high blood pressure. On December 25, someone reported to the police that Huang Xianfeng was passing out material exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. At 11:00 p.m. that day, people from the 610 Office, the Public Security Department, the National Security Bureau, and the residential committee ransacked her home. Her copy of Zhuan Falun and a 2004 calendar were confiscated. In addition, she was sentenced to forced labor for one year and six months (to be served at home). Her retirement salary was withheld. Recently, the head of the 610 Office; the political head of the Maoming West Public Security Department, Xu Hualiu; and Chen Youcai from the CCP Management Office in charge of Retirement planned to send her to a brainwashing center. They also tried to force her to write the three statements and told her that if she followed their instructions, they would resume paying her salary, but she refused to cooperate with them.

Liang Mingzhen also signed her name on an appeal letter. On January 24, 2001, her residence was ransacked by officers from the Public Security Department and the 610 Office. In December, she went to Beijing, but the policemen there attacked her by covering her mouth with a towel and choking her. They also fiercely punched and kicked her. In addition, the money she had on her was taken away. At the Beijing Train Station, policemen from Maoming handcuffed her behind her back together with another practitioner. The police restricted their ability to fulfill their most basic needs such as eating, drinking, and relieving themselves. The police used a variety of methods to torture them. When they arrived at Maoming, the two were detained in the Maoming #2 Detention Center for further torture. On September 26, 2001, Liang Mingzhen was arrested again at the Big Meadow and detained at the Maoming #2 Detention Center for 15 days. She was later transferred to the brainwashing center for over a month. When she was in the brainwashing center, she was pressured and tricked into giving a "confession," writing the three statements, and renouncing Falun Gong. Later, two of her tape recorders were confiscated, and she was detained two more times.

People from the Maoming Xinhu Public Security Department forced Guo Xiuqun to either personally report to the Department or call the Department twice a day everyday. On January 24, 2001, she also signed on the appeal letter, so her residence was ransacked. In March, she rode her bike to Beijing to appeal but was arrested in Zhengzhou. The police took the 10,000 yuan she had on her and detained her in the Maoming #2 Detention Center for a month. After that, she was once again detained in the Maoming #2 Detention Center for painting "Falun Dafa is good" on a mechanical factory building. She was later transferred to the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp, where she had to serve a one-year term. In the labor camp, she endured terrible torture and was later forced to write the three statements. After returning home, she realized that it was wrong to have written the three statements, and she felt very regretful. On May 6, 2004, she wrote a firm statement and declared that the three statements she had written were void and invalid and that she would continue cultivation in Dafa. Because of that, people from the Maoming Public Security Department and the 610 Office arrested her and detained her in the brainwashing center until 2004.
