Authorities at Banqiao Women's Prison in Tianjin City Combine Hard Labor and Brainwashing in Attempts to Break Practitioners' Wills

Aug. 9, 2007 |   By a Falun Dafa Practitioner from Tianjin City

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a researcher studying medical science and technology. I am a firm believer in Falun Dafa and was once detained in the Banqiao Women's Prison in Tianjin City. Practitioners there were not only tortured mentally through intense brainwashing, but were also tortured physically through hard labor. The prison officials forced the practitioners to pick beans, make car cushions, and to sew military uniforms and shirts. On average, they were forced to work over 18 hours per day, and often past 3:00 a.m. They had no rights and no labor law protection.

One time when I was picking beans, my nose started bleeding and it would not stop. My blood pressure was 230/140, and the police still did not allow me to take a break. To cover up their actions, they made me remove the blanket and bed sheet from my bed and continue to snap beans on my bed. Because I refused to give up Falun Dafa, I was forced to sit on a small stool until 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. after a long day of hard labor. My blood pressure often reached 180/120. On one occasion we were forced to line up, and I was singled out and forced to stand still in the hot sun. They forced me to stand on only one leg, and when I could no longer hold my leg up, they kicked me as soon as my foot touched the ground. I stood on one leg for one-and-a-half hours. These were the brutal methods used by the guards in attempts to force us to give in and renounce Falun Dafa.

On the Chinese New Year, my mother brought me some dumplings. The guards refused to take them and said ferociously, "If you refuse to be "reformed", you will only eat dumplings in your dreams!" My mother left the prison in tears, and that same year she became severely ill.
