(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 26 cities or counties in 14 provinces. In this report, 51 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 21 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Zhao Jianshe Persecuted in the Wuxi City Prison
Mr. Zhao Jianshe is extremely weak due to being severely tortured in the Wuxi City Prison. He has anemia, muscle atrophy, and difficulty standing. His mind seems to be affected, and he has poor memory. Mr. Zhao is separately incarcerated, and six prisoners take turns monitoring him.
2. [Guang'an County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Xiazhen and Ms. Chen Shouqin Facing Illegal Trials
Two older practitioners, 68-year-old Ms. Li Xiazhen and 62-year-old Ms. Chen Shouqin, will be on trial in the Guang'an County Court at 9:00 a.m. on October 10, 2008.

3. [Yongji County, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Shuqing and Ms. Zhao Yufen Arrested
Personnel from the Chengnan Police Station and from the Yongji County Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Sun Shuqing and Ms. Zhao Yufen from Ms. Sun's home on October 2, 2008. They are in the county detention center.
4. [Shanghai] Mr. Zhang Yinda Arrested
Fifty-year-old Mr. Zhang Yinda lives on No. 33-2 Lane, Wenzhou Street in Shanghai. Personnel from the Huangpu District 610 Office arrested him on July 28, 2008. He has been sentenced to two years of forced labor and is still in the district detention center.
Mr. Zhang had already been sentenced to two years of forced labor in April 2001. His wife and sister-in-law were also been arrested and sentenced to forced labor in the Shanghai Women's Forced Labor Camp.
5. [Shanghai] Ms. Shi Ping Has Been Held for Two Months
Personnel from the Shanghai City Police Department and from the Domestic Security Division arrested 61-year-old Ms. Shi Ping from the Sitang District, Shanghai, on the afternoon of August 2, 2008. Her home was ransacked, and she is still in the Baoshan District Detention Center.
6. [Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Hong Hung up by Her Handcuffs in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Liu Hong from Laixi City was recently admitted to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province. Guard Li Aiwen stripped off her clothes and hung her up by her handcuffs for seven days.
7. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Shumei Sentenced to Forced Labor
Ms. Gao Shumei, an employee from Yimin Forest in Yichun City, was arrested on September 3, 2008, and sentenced to two years of forced labor. She is being held in the Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Center.
8. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wu Xiaohua Held in a Mental Hospital for Nine Months
Ms. Wu Xiaohua, a professor from the Anhui Province Architecture Institute, has been held in the Hefei City Mental Hospital for nine months. Her limbs have been tied to a bed. She has been unable to move since her arrest. She has to relieve herself on the bed. Those in charge inject her with substances that harm the central nervous system. Guards often shock her with electric batons. It is heard that Ms. Wu is facing an illegal trial.
9. [Xiangfan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Dongyun Arrested
Ms. Wang Dongyun from the Xiangyang District in Xiangfan City was arrested at noon on September 27, 2008, for placing a Falun Gong flyer in a residential compound. She was taken to Zhangwan Police Station and then transferred into the district detention center. The police ransacked her home and office that day.

Police from Suizhong County arrested Mr. Wang Yabin from the county in Huludao City at the county railway station when he was on his way to Shenyang City.

11. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Three Practitioners on Trial
Qindu District Court agents in Xianyang City tried Ms. Xiao Chunhong, Ms. Jia Hua, and another practitioner on September 25, 2008, without informing their families. Two were sentenced to eight years in prison, and one to nine years. The verdicts had been determined before the trial.
12. [Beijing] Ms. Cai Changhe Arrested
Personnel from the Shengli Police Station and from the Shengli Community Residential Office in the Shunyi District arrested 51-year-old Ms. Cai Changhe and ransacked her home in the middle of the night on July 27, 2008. Ms. Cai's whereabouts are unknown.

Personnel from the Boshan District 610 Office and from the Shantou Police Station arrested Ms. Xiao Zhenhua and extorted 5,000 yuan from her on September 18, 2008.

Mr. Liu Yunchao was arrested on September 21, 2008, and is being held in the Huangshi City No. 1 Detention Center.

15. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Xuanhua Arrested
Ms. Guo Xuanhua from Pingdu City was arrested and taken to the city police department on September 6, 2008. Police officers confiscated the key to her home and ransacked it. They threatened Ms. Guo's son that unless he paid 20,000 yuan, Ms. Guo would be sentenced to three years of forced labor. The son borrowed the money and paid it. The police held Ms. Guo for 15 days and extorted an additional 400 yuan before releasing her.
16. [Loudi City, Hunan Province] Police Officers Wang Xuejun, Lan Lin, and Li Gangjun Relentlessly Persecute Practitioners
Personnel from the Loudi City 610 Office and from the Domestic Security Division arrested Mr. Liu Dexin and Ms. Liao Yu'e, in their 60s, and 40-year-old Mr. Deng Jianhua in early September 2008. The police ransacked their homes. Ms. Liao has been released, but the other two are still being detained. It is heard that one of Mr. Deng's legs was fractured in a beating.

17. [Chongqing] Ms. Shen Fengmei Arrested
Ms. Shen Fengmei, 46, is a retired employee from the Special Steel Company in Chongqing. She was arrested and taken to Bailing Detention Center in late September 2008.

Ms. Nan Shuying, in her 60s, went missing on September 29, 2008. It has since been confirmed that she was arrested.

Mr. Tang Keyu, an employee from the Chongqing Peiling Boatyard, was arrested at his home on September 17, 2008. Police confiscated several Dafa books. His whereabouts are unknown.
26. [Sanmenxia City, Henan Province] Ms. Du Xianrong and Ms. Li Faying Arrested
Ms. Du Xianrong was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labor for explaining the facts about Falun Gong. Ms. Li Faying was also arrested several days later.
27. [Shaanxi Province] Ms. Liu Xiurong Held in a Brainwashing Center
Ms. Liu Xiurong from Xi'an City was arrested on August 2, 2008. She is being abused in the Chang'an County Brainwashing Center. Police ransacked her home and confiscated several Dafa books.
28. [Qi County, Henan Province] Mr. Song Jiaxing Arrested
Personnel from the Qi County Police Department's Domestic Security Division broke into Mr. Song Jiaxing's home in Wulihe Township, Qi County, on the afternoon of September 18, 2008. They arrested him and put him in the township police station.

32. [Taoyuan County, Hunan Province] The Persecution of Several Practitioners
A drunken man on a motorcycle hit 42-year-old Mr. Jian Zhigang on July 4, 2008. Mr. Jian ended up in a coma, and the drunken man died instantly. The police immediately put Mr. Jian in Qianlishan Detention Center completely disregarding his severe injuries.
Mr. Peng Boxiang, 54, is a section chief at the Taoyuan County Agriculture Bank. He was laid off for practicing Falun Gong. The police put him in handcuffs and shackles and held him in a darkened room.
Fifty-four-year-old Ms. Liu Chunyun and 56-year-old Mr. Liu Xiaxin are retired officials from the county Fangzhi Factory. Police arrested them and confiscated a computer. Ms. Liu was transferred to the Changde City Brainwashing Center on September 24, 2008.
Ms. Jian Yuying, 50, is in the Changde City's No. 1 Detention Center for explaining the facts about Falun Gong in Xinheqiao Village, Taoyuan County. Mr. Tang Jianru, 54, and 50-year-old Ms. Chen Xiaohua were also arrested.
More than 60 practitioners from Taoyuan County have been arrested since July 4, 2008.
33. [Liaoyuan City, Liaoning Province] Several Practitioners Facing Trials
Several practitioners held in the Liaoyuan City Detention Center were sentenced on October 8, 2008. They were: Mr. Yu Donghui, Mr. Zhang Lizhi, Ms. Zhao Lijuan, Mr. Xu Hongwei, Mr. Duan Lifeng, Ms. Luan Feng, Ms. Ma Dongyan, Mr. Zhang Jinfeng, and Ms. Zheng Chunling.
34. [Diaobingshan City, Liaoning Province] The Persecution of Ms. Li Hong and Ms. Na Yuying
Ms. Li Hong and Ms. Na Yuying were arrested on July 4, 2008. Ms. Na had two heart attacks while she was detained in Diaobingshan City. Ms. Li Hong was transferred to Tieling City and could not eat for three months. Ms. Li was put in the Diaobingshan City Detention Center three days ago.

Personnel from the Tuchengzi Police Station in the Longtan District, Jilin City, arrested 50-year-old Ms. Zhang Yaqin at 9:00 p.m. on the eve of the arrival of the Olympic Torch Relay in Jilin City. She was held in the police station for two weeks and then transferred to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

Ms. Xie Lijuan from Changchun was held in Heizuizi Prison in Changchun City for two years. She was sent home on September 26, 2008, and could not recognize her father or mother.
