Looking Inward and Breaking Through the Old Forces' Economic Persecution

Oct. 17, 2008 |   By a Falun Dafa Practitioner in Shandong Province, China

(Clearwisdom.net) My wife, who does not practice Falun Gong, and I opened a small business in a supermarket. In the first fews days following our grand opening, our business was very bad, and my wife got angry at me. Sometimes I couldn't hold up my xinxing and fought with her. When I calmed myself down, I found that I indeed had a lot of attachments. Because I merely acknowledged these attachments on the surface but didn't really dig deeper to uproot them, my circumstances got worse and worse. I tried to make some advertising posters to improve our business. My wife didn't give me any money, but instead, she asked me to use my personal money to get the materials. I had no choice but to agree. After buying the advertisement material, I didn't even have enough money to buy lunch. I was worried about not getting a good return for my investment and felt frustrated. It is difficult to live in the city without money, so I didn't know what to do.

I studied the Fa calmly. I looked inward and sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the economic persecution imposed by the old forces. After studying the Fa, I found a very deep-rooted attachment: the fear of not having enough money.

I also broke through the toughest layer of my human shell: using ordinary people's thinking to solve problems, such as special sales promotions. I should have looked inward and assimilated myself to the Fa and used the Fa to measure things and solve problems. I also found the attachment of validating myself, such as complacency in how attractive my store front looked, and how reasonable my prices were. I didn't listen to others' comments and suggestions. Even if I did, I only did it on the surface, but not in my heart. Sometimes I even argued with them.

That night, I went to my store. My mother-in-law told me that nothing in the store was sold. I smiled and said, "Don't worry. Let's be more patient." In fact, I was very attached to how the business ran, and I felt very depressed upon hearing that. After I found my deep-rooted attachment--the fear of not having enough money, the circumstances changed. The next morning, my wife was very happy and gave me 50 yuan. Through Fa study, I realized that I should use my store as a place to save sentient beings. Saving them is most important. What do my personal gain and loss matter? I must let go of this attachment from the bottom of my heart.

That evening, my mother-in-law called me and said, "Seven items were sold." When I went to the store, I saw that my wife sold two more items. A few moments later, I also sold two items. I realized that when a cultivator lets go of his fundamental attachments, the circumstances will improve. I was very grateful to Master, not because He has helped my business, but because His care and compassion helped me enlighten to the Fa. In the future, I will take the Fa as Master on my cultivation path, look inward, and rectify my thoughts and actions according to the Fa.
