Ms. Zhou Yanyi, Mr. Fan Shuilin, and Ms. Lan Ming from Luotian County, Hubei Province, Persecuted

Nov. 14, 2008

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhou Yanyi was formerly a staff member of a sales department in Fengshan Town, Luotian County, Hubei Province. She suffered from hypertension, heart disease, and rheumatoid disease. After she started practicing Falun Gong, all her diseases went away. However, because she believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she was arrested three times and sentenced to forced labor by Yi Dezhi, the chief officer of the 610 Office of Luotian County, and Xu Jinquan, former deputy chief of the Police Department of Luotian County. In addition, more than 10,000 yuan was extorted from her by the authorities during the span of her arrests.

Ms. Zhou's hypertension returned while she was in the First Detention Center of Luotian County, and because of this she was refused admission to Wuhan Forced Labor Camp. To make her do forced labor, police officers He, Ye, and Zhou force-fed her drugs by prying her mouth open with an instrument, breaking several of her teeth in the process.

After the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, the sales department in Fengshan Town, where Ms. Zhou worked, followed orders from the 610 Office and Luotian County Police Department, to confiscate her ID card. Her ID was not returned until three to four years later. At the same time, deputy directors Li Guozhi and Wang Xiufeng constantly monitored her and disturbed her daily life. When she was held in custody, the secretary of the Communist Party Committee at her job, Deng Guohui, went to the First Detention Center to force her to write her resignation. Because she refused to give up Falun Gong, she was dismissed from her job, and her husband was also implicated.

Mr. Fan Shuilin was a teacher from the Experimental Middle School of Luotian County, Hubei Province. Because of his belief in Falun Gong, he was arrested by 610 Office personnel and Luotian County police, and was detained for more than three weeks. He was released after the police extorted 10,000 yuan from him. Afterwards, the Commission for Inspecting Discipline and the Education Bureau of Luotian County jointly persecuted him by issuing an official order to suspend his salary for one year. After a year had passed, his salary was re-instated, but it was lowered three levels. Because of this persecution, his wife and children deserted him. Now he is homeless and lives on top of a room between the staircases of a building.

Ms. Lanming was formerly employed at the Jian-an Company of Luotian County. On August 19, she was arrested at a place where she was staying, homeless, and was held in the First Detention Center of Luotian County. When Ms. Lan was arrested in 2001, her husband divorced her and took control of all her family property, according to a court verdict. When she returned home after five years of imprisonment, her friends and relatives had to give her clothes to wear. To survive she had to become homeless.
