(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 25 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 44 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 20 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Ru Loses Consciousness in Panjin Prison
A practitioner with the surname of Ru (gender unknown) from Qingyuan County held a hunger strike in Panjin Prison. The practitioner passed out and is being cared for by family members.
On the afternoon of November 19, a female practitioner in her 50s from the Wanghua District of Fushun City was taken into custody.
2. [Beijing] Ms. Gong Yanzhao's Life Is in Imminent Danger
Ms. Gong Yanzhao, about 70 years old, is retired from a bank in Beijing. Before the Olympic Games were held in Beijing in August 2008, the police constantly harassed her. Her family worried about her being arrested and sent her to Hechuan City within the jurisdiction of Chongqing. She continued to tell others about the persecution and give out brochures. In July, officers from a police station in Hechuan City asked her whether she was a Falun Gong practitioner. When she replied that she was, they took her into custody. Several days later, she was illegally sentenced to 15 months in prison and taken directly to the prison hospital affiliated with the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp in Chongqing. Ms. Gong has become severely dehydrated and her life is in imminent danger.
3. [Luan County, Hebei Province] Ms. Yang Fengjiu Taken into Custody Again
Soon after Ms. Yang Fengjiu was released from a detention center, a department head at her work unit ordered her to write the Three Statements. She firmly refused. Two days later, Ms. Yang was taken into custody again.

4. [Li County, Gansu Province] Mr. Shang Junbin Unlawfully Sentenced to Prison
Mr. Shang Junbin, 30, lives on East Paoquan Road in the Maiji District of Tianshui City, Gansu Province. He had been unlawfully sentenced to four years in prison in the Qincheng District of Tianshui City. On July 10, 2008, Mr. Shang was placed under administrative detention by the Zhongyuan District Police Department in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. On July 31, he was officially placed under arrest. He is being held at the Zhengzhou City No. 2 Detention Center and has been sentenced to six months in prison.
5. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Mr. Cheng Zhiming, His Wife, and Another Practitioner Are Taken into Custody
On November 17, 2008, Mr. Cheng Zhiming, his wife, and Ms. Zhang Xiuzhi from Laishui County went to Yi County in Hebei Province to send forth righteous thoughts and rescue practitioners being held at the Yi County Detention Center. A woman by the roadside was not able to get a ride. The three elderly practitioners kindly gave her a ride in their motorized tricycle. They told her the truth about Falun Gong. Although she agreed with what the practitioners said, she called the Yi County Police Department as soon as she got out of the tricycle. The Yi County police intercepted the three elderly practitioners and took them to the Yi County Detention Center. Mr. Cheng's son has taken him home. His wife and Ms. Zhang remain in custody at the detention center. Each practitioner was fined 1,000 yuan in cash. The police are holding Mr. Cheng's motorized tricycle.
6. [Xiong County, Hebei Province] Mr. Dong Keping and Ms. Liu Erjun Face Trial
On the evening of August 6, 2008, Mr. Dong Keping from Mawutou Village was taken into custody. The following day Ms. Liu Erjun in the same village was taken into custody. The two practitioners have been held at the Xiong County Detention Center for over three months. Xiong County Court is planning to place Mr. Dong and Ms. Liu on trial on November 20.

7. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Yonggui, in His 70s, Unlawfully Detained
Ms. Chen Yonggui, in her 70s, was taken into police custody when she was telling others about Falun Gong on November 15, 2008. Ms. Chen is from Luzhou City and is being held at the Yuhuangguan Detention Center.
8. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yu Shiquan Taken to a Brainwashing Center from Prison
Mr. Yu Shiquan was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. He was being held in Dongling Prison in Shenyang City and was supposed to be released on November 19, 2008. However, the prison authorities and the Hongtoushan 610 Office took him to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center directly from prison. His family has not been allowed to visit him.
9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wei Yunge Unlawfully Detained
Mr. Wei Yunge, 74, was turned in to the police while distributing brochures on Shizi Street in the Nangang District of Harbin City on November 2. Officers from the Xuanxi Police Station in the Nangang District took him into custody at the Nangang Police Department Detention Center. Later the Domestic Security Division of the Nangang Police Department detained him under administrative charges for 15 days. He was fined 1,000 yuan. On November 17 Mr. Wei was released.
10. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Baokun Detained at the Nanjiao Detention Center
Mr. Zhao Baokun from the Zhufu District in Yantai City went out to validate the Fa on the evening of November 12, 2008. He was taken into custody at the Dongchujia Town section of the Laishan District. He was taken to the Nanjiao Detention Center the following day for a 15-day detention. His detention term was due to end on November 28.
11. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Mr. Quan Peijun and Practitioner Wei Held at the Wenqingshanzhuang Brainwashing Center
Prior to the Beijing Olympic Games in August, brainwashing sessions within the Huancuiyu Scenic Area in Xingyang City, Henan Province, ended. Most practitioners held there were released. Mr. Quan Peijun and a practitioner with the surname of Wei (gender unknown) from Jingqi Road in the Jinshui District were taken into custody again and held at the Wanqingshanzhuang Brainwashing Center, where the two practitioners have been held for several months.
12. [Shanghai] Ms. Gu Jihong and Ms. Yan Fumei Face Unlawful Trial
Ms. Gu Jihong, 52, lives at Unit 501, No. 246, Lane 151, Huangling Road, Putuo District, Shanghai. She had been sentenced to three years in prison and one year of forced labor. Her forced labor term had been unreasonably extended because she shouted "Falun Dafa is great" when she refused to be brainwashed.
On the morning of July 26, members of the Putuo District 610 Office threatened Ms. Gu's husband to make him open the door. For no reason, the police took Ms. Gu into custody. They confiscated a computer, a printer, and Falun Dafa materials. She has been held at the Putuo District Detention Center for nearly four months. Her elder sister, Ms. Gu Jianmin, was taken into custody on March 1, 2008. Ms. Gu Jianmin died as a result of abuse on March 13. At 1:00 p.m. on November 19, Ms. Gu Jihong and Ms. Yan Fumei were placed on trial in the Putuo District Court.

14. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhang Muwen Detained in Beijing
Mr. Zhang Muwen from the Hongqi Residential Community went to Beijing on September 13 when the Paralympics was being held. He checked into a small hotel. When the police were examining residential identifications, officers from the Dongcheng District Police Department took him into custody after finding Falun Gong materials on him. Mr. Zhang has been held at the Changping Detention Center since then.

15. [Shanghai] Baoshan District Court Plans to Place Ms. Wang Zuoshan and Her Daughter on Trial on the Afternoon of November 20
16. [Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ba Lijiang Severely Abused in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison
On June 14, 2002, Ms. Ba Lijiang from Hulin City taken into custody in Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province. In September 2003, she was taken to the No. 11 Ward in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. Later she was transferred to the No. 4 Ward for severe abuse. She is now in the No. 10 Ward.
On November 17, 2008, Ms. Ba's family received a letter from her. In the letter, she told her family that she has been not able to move her arms very well since July 2008. She was unable to move her right leg and cannot take care herself as her fingers have become disabled as well.

17. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yan Guizhi Taken into Custody
On November 14, Ms. Yan Guizhi went to Wujiabao Town to distribute brochures. She was turned in to the Wujiabo Police Station. The police searched her home and found more Falun Dafa materials there. Ms. Yan managed to escape and has been forced to stay away from her home.

19. [Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Zhi and Ms. Wang Xiuzhen Unlawfully Placed on Trial
On the morning of November 19, 2008, the Jidong County Court placed Mr. Wang Zhi and Ms. Wang Xiuzhen on trial. The trial was adjourned at around 12:30 p.m. It was reported that Mr. Liu Xuegang from the Hengshan District of Jixi City and Ms. Zhang Yutang from Mishan City were taken by the police from the court. The two practitioners' whereabouts remain unknown.

20. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Sui Yongyan Taken into Police Custody
At around 3:00 p.m. one day in November 2008, Mr. Sui Yongyan was telling others about Falun Dafa. He was turned in to the Maokuishan Police Station in the Zhenxing District, Dandong City. Officers took him to the police station. That same night, Mr. Sui was transferred to the Dandong City Detention Center.
21. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Huanling and Ms. Pan Shanshan Harassed
Ms. Wang Huanling and Ms. Pan Shanshan, who live on Hongri Road in the Nankai District of Tianjin, are being followed and are under surveillance. Police officers, plainclothes officers, residential community security guards, and bicycle parking lot attendants follow and monitor the two practitioners. A local residential police officer with the surname of Zhao (male) has made numerous phone calls to harass the two women.
22. [Beijing] Ms. Liu Jingfang Taken to a Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province
Ms. Liu Jingfang from Xiejiashan Village in Xitiangezhuang Town, Miyun County, Beijing, was taken into custody on May 27, 2008, after the police searched her home. Her family recently received a notice that Ms. Liu was sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor. She was taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province.
23. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Xiao Beaten at the Hohhot City Women's Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Zhang Xiao, 21, was transferred from Beijing to the Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In the labor camp, inmates Xia Chunling (female) and Yin Liping (female) often beat Ms. Zhang under the instigation of the head of the labor camp division. On one occasion, Yin Liping pushed Ms. Zhang down the stairs. Ms. Zhang suffered numerous injuries. Zhong Zhirong, the head of the labor camp division, not only failed to punish Yin Liping, she dragged Ms. Zhang to a corner and slapped her over and over. Ms. Zhang has collapsed mentally as a result of extended abuse.
24. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Wu Aihua, Ms. Jiang Lihua, and Ms. Li Xiulian Are Taken into Custody
At around 5:00 p.m. on August 18, 2008, Ms. Wu Aihua, Ms. Jiang Lihua, and Ms. Liu Xiulian were turned in to the police while they were giving out brochures around Shangwei Village in Xiawei Town. Officers from the Xiawei Town Police Station took them into custody. At around 6:00 p.m. Ms. Li's hair salon was searched. The police confiscated eight boxes of copy paper. The three practitioners are being held at the Yishui Detention Center.

25. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Zhenduo and Mr. Lu Xiyao Taken into Custody
At around noon time on August 5, 2008, officers from the Laizhou City 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, and the Guojiadian Police Station arrived at Banjia Village in Guojiadian Town. They forcibly took into custody Mr. Liu Zhenduo and Mr. Lu Xiyao. Mr. Lu's wife has been forced to stay away from her home to avoid arrest.
The police broke down the door of Mr. Lu's home. They took a computer, a printer, Falun Dafa books, a VCD player, a sound system, and other personal items. In search of Mr. Lu and his wife, the police climbed over the wall and broke into the home of Mr. Lu's neighbor, who is not a practitioner. The police handcuffed Mr. Lu at his neighbor's home, where they returned several times to ransack it.
On August 1, 2008, Ms. Lu Xiumin from Banjia Village learned that Ms. Li Yufu, who lives in Dezhiguanqian Village, was taken into custody. Ms. Lu accompanied Ms. Li's family to the Dianzi Brainwashing Center in Laizhou City to visit Ms. Li. Ms. Lu was taken into custody at the center. She remains in custody. Ms. Li Yufu was taken to the Laizhou City Detention Center on August 5. Her family has not been allowed to visit her.
26. [Shandong Province] Additional Information on Practitioners Taken into Custody in Mengyin County
Ms. Zhang Ruizhi, a retired teacher at the Mengyin County Elementary School, returned home after having 5,000 yuan extorted from her by the Mengyin County 610 Office on August 3, 2008.
On the evening of July 18, 2008, officers from the Daigu Town Police Station took Ms. Gong Fang'e into custody in Guanjiazhuang Village, Daigu Town. The officers then searched her home. Ms. Gong remains in custody at the Mengyin County Brainwashing Center.
Ms. Bao Xiju from Tanbu Town remains in custody at the Linyi City Brainwashing Center.
At 5:00 p.m. on July 16, 2008, officers from the Jiepai Town 610 Office and the Chongshan Police Station in Mengyin County broke into Ms. Ma Xiuwen's home in Pengjialing Village and Ms. Zhang Defeng's home in Hedong Village in Jiepai Town. The police took the two practitioners into custody and searched their homes. Ms. Ma and Ms. Zhang were initially taken to the Chongshan Police Station before being taken to the brainwashing center operated by the Mengyin County 610 Office. In the brainwashing center, Ms. Ma was viciously beaten while being interrogated as the source of Falun Gong materials. On August 5, Ms. Ma was released after having 1,200 yuan extorted from her. The Mengyin County 610 Office also forced Ms. Ma to sign a statement that she owes 4,000 more to the 610 Office.
27. [Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Lihua Taken to the Dezhou Detention Center
Ms. Liu Lihua, in her 40s, is a farmer in Huangheya Village. On the morning of November 15, 2008, she was turned to the police while giving out brochures in a farmer's market in the Huangheya area. Four or five police officers arrived immediately in a police vehicle to take Ms. Liu into custody. The following day she was transferred to the Dezhou Detention Center.

28. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qiao Xiyu and Two Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
On November 11, Ms. Qiao Xiyu, Ms. Zhang Xiuying, and Ms. Huang Xiuying in the Shitanwu area of Boshan County were taken into custody by the Domestic Security Division of the Boshan 610 Office. The police then went to the practitioners' homes and extorted 3,000 yuan from each of them. The three women are being held at the criminal response unit of Boshan County.

29. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Shen Li Remains in Custody at the Zhengzhou City No. 2 Detention Center
Ms. Shen Li works at the In-Well Unit of the Northern China Oil Department in Zhengzhou City. On July 7, she was taken into custody and her home was searched. Ms. Shen has been held at the Zhengzhou City No. 2 Detention Center with over 40 other practitioners. None of the practitioners' families are allowed to visit them.

Ms. Sun Huani is being held in custody for distributing brochures. Her case has been sent to the Procuratorate.

31. [Shiyan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhu Feng, Mr. Xuanyuan Ping, and Ms. Han Yaohua Are Taken into Custody
Between November 8 and November 10, members of the 610 Office and police officers from Shiyan City and Yun County took Mr. Zhu Feng, Mr. Xuanyuan Ping, and Ms. Han Yaohua into custody. On November 14, Mr. Luo Qihua from Shiyan City was also taken into custody. The police confiscated a DVD burner and some truth clarification materials in Mr. Luo's home. The practitioners were tortured while being interrogated in Yun County.
32. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Ten Practitioners Face Unlawful Trial
Ten practitioners unlawfully arrested in April are now facing trial. Eight of the ten practitioners have been held at the Zhuzhou City No. 1 Detention Center, the Zhuzhou City No. 2 Detention Center, and the Zhuzhou County Detention Center. The other two are on parole and under surveillance pending trial. The ten practitioners are:

It has been reported that Ms. Zhang Hejun was tortured. One of her legs was broken as a result of brutal beatings.
33. [Shiyan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Luo Qihua Taken into Custody
At around 3:40 p.m. on November 14, officers from the Yun County Police Department and members of the Shiyan City 610 Office broke into Mr. Luo Qihua's home. The police took Mr. Luo into custody without any paperwork. They confiscated a DVD burner, an MP3 player, cash, cellular phones, and other personal items. Mr. Luo is being held at the Yun County Detention Center.
Prior to November 14, Mr. Xuanyuan Ping was taken into custody. His whereabouts are unknown.
34. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Guiqun Taken into Custody
Ms. Liu Guiqun from Xinjin County, Chengdu City, was taken into custody on November 16, 2008. The same day she was taken into custody, officers led by Officer Tan of the Jinhua Town Police Station in Xinjin County confiscated a DVD and several issues of the Chinese edition of Clearwisdom Weekly. Ms. Liu is being held in the Longwangdu (where the detention centers are located)
35. [Sichuan Province] Several Practitioners Sentenced to Prison by Xindu District Court in Chengdu City
Between November 4 and 11, Xindu District Court in Chengdu City sentenced four practitioners, who were arrested before the August Olympics, to prison. The four practitioners are: Ms. Jiang Yifen to three years in prison, sentenced on November 4; Ms. Wang Yingxia to three years in prison, sentenced on November 7; Mr. Wu Fengquan and Mr. Wu Fenglin each to four years in prison.

36. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zou Danting and Her Husband, Mr. Chen, Yongtao Unlawfully Placed on Trial
At 9:00 a.m. on November 28, 2008, the Tianhe District Court in Guangzhou City was scheduled to place Ms. Zou Danyu and her husband, Mr. Chen Yongtao, on trial.
Ms. Zou and Mr. Chen were taken into custody by officers from the Tianhe 610 Office on April 15. They have been unlawfully detained for eight months. Their parents and son have had no one to take care of them.
