On December 30, 2007, failing to arrest Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bo Caifeng at home, the police ransacked the house and confiscated 8,000 yuan from her daughter Ms. Cao Yanyan. Now Ms. Cao Yanyan is still being jailed in a detention center as hostage.

Since mid-November 2007, the police in Daqing City has been arresting Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale. About nine practitioners were fined, threatened, and harassed, and their homes were ransacked. Three practitioners were forced to become homeless.

Ms. Zhang Shengrong, in her 60s, is a retiree from the surveying and mapping team. Because of practicing Falun Gong, she suffered brutal persecution over the past eight years. She, together with many other fellow practitioners, were arrested, detained and interrogated many times.

Ms. Liu Guifu is one of the very few Falun Gong practitioners released from prison, due to family publicity and international investigations, and allowed to leave China. She and her family remain under pressure.

Ms Sun Fengjie's health has dramatically declined in prison, due to hanging tortures, the administration of unknown drugs, and beatings from criminal inmates incited by guards.

This article gives an overview of the persecution situation in China with available statistics and concludes with specific accounts of the persecution of Mr Wu Jiuping, Mr Wu Zhiying and Ms. Zhao Jiafang to illustrate the human tragedy behind the statisitcs.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Deng Wenyang lived in Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. Since the start of the persecution in 1999 he has been arrested and detained at a forced labor camp multiple times. On September 26, 2007, he was arrested again, and he died from mistreatment ten days after being detained in the Gaoyang Labor Camp.

Ms. Lin Daihong was released from custody due to her critical condition, but then re-arrested before she could recover.

Since her husband was previously sent to a labor camp, there is no one to care for Ms. Sun's four year old daughter but elderly relatives.
