Teacher from China in Los Angeles, California: This Music Belongs in Heaven

Jan. 6, 2009 |   By Zi Yan from Los Angeles

(Clearwisdom.net) The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company performed at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles for the New Year. Mr. and Mrs. Wang came to visit their daughter four months ago. Mr. Wang's first comment of the interview was, "This music belongs in heaven and can hardly be found in the human world."

He elaborated, "When I sat there, I felt at peace and calm. The ethnic Yi and Zang dances were pure and simple and uncontaminated. The graceful and beautiful dance movements matching the music were such an enjoyment for me."

'The Poet's Vision' was such a graceful portrayal. The celestial maidens dancing in the Guanghan Palace with the Poet God Li Bai is what the divine feels like.

"The entire show is closely connected to the word 'divine.' It's about how God has saved mankind from Emperor Huang to the Tang Dynasty. The drums gave people a good idea of how grand it was in the great Tang Dynasty."

Mr. Wang, a language teacher, was very pleased with the show, "Since the Cultural Revolution and after 60 years of Chinese Communist Party rule, classical and traditional things have been destroyed. Performances in China always have to promote the Party. They can't be like the DPA's presentation of art. We can see aspects of culture from Emperor Huang to the Tang Dynasty in this show, which is really refreshing.

"The opening ceremony of the Olympics in Beijing was very grand, and they called it 'traditional,' but they were twisted traditions. The opening used modern light technology to show the Four Inventions of ancient China. That portrayal was grand but empty. It is nowhere near the exquisite techniques used by the DPA to present the Han culture.

"The CCP says it is trying to recover Chinese culture, such as the teachings of Lao Tzu and Confucius. They are not truly 'recovering' this culture--they are just using it as a tool to promote what the CCP wants."

Mrs. Wang liked "The Udumbara's Bloom." she said, "Every dancer was like a flower! Also "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution" was so touching. The persecution of Falun Gong is so wrong. I cried during the program."

She continued, "I feel that the DPA's shows will bring hope to the Chinese people. I hope there is one day this show can go on stage in China. I will definitely recommend it to my relatives and friends."

Mr. Wang continued, "All Falun Gong practitioners I know are good people. They say what they think and how they feel. There is nothing wrong with it. The program about the persecution of Falun Gong and it reflects the facts. In China, nobody dares to talk about Falun Gong. The officials had no choice but to deal with orders from the top. They, in fact, didn't believe that the government should suppress Falun Gong. I hope everything will change."
