My Joy in Cultivation

Nov. 10, 2009 |   By a practitioner in Shandong Province, China

(Clearwisdom.net) Whileclarifying the facts about Falun Dafa to people, I have often been asked, "Young lady, tell me how you feel about Fallun Gong as a practitioner." I have always answered, "I am full of joy while conducting myself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."

Clarifying the Truth and Saving People Makes
Me Happy

After understanding why we must do the three things well as Fa-rectification period practitioners, I have taken every opportunity to let people know why the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes practitioners. At first, when I spoke to young people about my own age, they accepted what I told them. But when I encountered senior officials, I had much more difficulty getting them to accept what I had to say.

I once talked to an older man about the CCP persecuting Falun Gong in my community, and he said to me, "Child, you are still too young. The bridges I have crossed are more numerous than the roads you have walked on," which meant he knew more than I did. I looked inward to cultivate myself according to Teacher's requirements and found that I didn't know the true history of the CCP because I had grown up within the Party's culture. That was a major obstacle I had in clarifying the truth and persuading people to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, not to mention wisely clarifying the truth.

Therefore, I carefully read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, the "Disintegrate the Party Ideology" and other truth-clarification materials in the evenings after my husband and son had gone to sleep. The Minghui Weekly and the experience sharing articles written by practitioners in China were also very helpful. I came to understand that if we wanted to clarify the truth well, we first needed to know the truth well ourselves, and this was critical.

After seeing that I understood, Teacher gave me wisdom. I was previously not good at communicating with people, but now it doesn't mater who I run into. I can easily tell the person why the CCP persecutes practitioners and I can persuade people to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. This makes me happy!

Taking Hardship as Joy Makes Me More Joyful

My husband's parents live with us. They both had major operations in the last two years. They need me to take care of everything for them, and my husband is self-employed, so he needs my help too. I also need to take care of my son. Sometimes when I came home from work and cooked for my in-laws they had reactions to their medication and they didn't want to eat. I felt very bad and sorry for them, but I didn't know what to do for them.

Some people told me they thought that I had had a bitter life, and they were anxious about when my situation would improve. However, I don't think that way because I am a practitioner.

Teacher said,

"Those ordeals and the suffering, no matter how great or harsh you find them to be, are good things, because they take place solely on account of your cultivation. A person can eliminate karma and shed human attachments when he goes through ordeals, and through ordeals he can improve." ("Fa Teaching at the 2008 New York Conference")

I think that life is a compromise of joy and hardship. When taking hardship as joy, it will be the only joy left in life. Being a good daughter-in-law is the traditional example of high morality of the Chinese nation. I am a practitioner so I should set a higher standard for myself. While taking care of my in-laws, I often talk to them about how wonderful Falun Dafa is and how widely Dafa has spread around the world. I also play the DVDs of the Shen Yun Performing Arts shows. By communicating with my parents-in-law, I have shared in many of their life experiences and I have learned a lot of folk legends.

I deeply believe that Falun Dafa has brought glory to my family. My parents-in-law have quickly recovered. I would like to thank Teacher for His compassionate salvation.
