Dandong Court in Liaoning Province Schemes to Prevent the Public from Attending the Trial of a Falsely Accused Practitioner, Concerned Citizens Are Outraged

Dec. 29, 2009 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Liaoning Province

(Clearwisdom.net) When the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong, many people were deceived by the lies that were spread by the CCP. People did not know the truth, and they dared not to listen to the facts. They were so scared that they did not want to talk about Falun Gong. For the past 10 years, Falun Gong practitioners have persistently clarified the truth, and now the situation in China and the world has totally changed. From their initial misunderstandings, people have begun to understand and are now supporting Falun Gong rather than opposing it. People have started to take the initiative to find out the truth. Many of them now have even stepped forward to support Falun Gong. Falun Gong has spread to over 114 countries and regions, and the rest of the world and also Chinese people are now protesting the persecution of Falun Gong. The voice of justice is starting to be heard.

The following is what happened recently when Zhenxing District Court in Dandong City tried a Falun Gong practitioner. When the local residents came to learn about Falun Gong, the authorities stopped them.

On the morning of November 6, 2009, the trial of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ren Xiufen from Qianyang Town, Donggang City, was scheduled to take place in Zhenxing District Court in Dandong City. All the evidence against Ms. Ren was fabricated, so her parents asked two upright lawyers to defend their daughter to prove that she was not guilty of any crime.

It became known that these lawyers would file a "not guilty" plea on Ms. Ren's behalf, and the local people that knew the truth of the situation were very encouraged. That morning, many people outside the front and side gates of the courthouse asked to be allowed to attend the hearing. Courthouse officials were very worried and arranged for many plainclothes police to monitor those outside the building. The plainclothes police told those who wanted to attend the hearing to register and sign in to be able to enter. All of them signed without hesitation and waited outside the gate. However, when the session began, the courthouse guards had other people, whom they had arranged for in advance, form a line and allowed them to enter with their cell phones and bags. Everyone who had signed in, including Ms. Ren's family, were not admitted.

People said, "They never obey the law! Don't push us too much!" They started to shout, "Why are you keeping us from attending the hearing? What are you hiding? I can't believe that there are judges like you! Do you call this a public session? Is this how you enforce the law?" People shouted and questioned the court police. Ms. Ren's family members were furious.

The two lawyers saw that something was going on outside the courthouse and were told how unscrupulously Zhenxing District Court officials had behaved. The lawyers told the police, "Legally, every citizen has the right to audit a trial, so why do you not allow certain people to attend the hearing? It's against the law to play such tricks. In any case, all of them signed in according to your requirement." Warned by the lawyers, the court police had to let four to five of Ms. Ren's family members to enter the courtroom. All of them were searched thoroughly and nothing was allowed to be brought into the court, especially cell phones. Other family members and all those who had dutifully signed in were pushed out the gate.

This was yet another example of the CCP not following the law in its persecution of Falun Gong and another example of how it oppresses Chinese citizens. Two people were so angry that they went to consult a lawyer. After they returned, they stood at the gate to the courthouse, condemning the court police until the session was adjourned.

All those who were not permitted to attend the trial kept questioning and admonishing the police. The police knew that they were in an indefensible position, so they did not say anything. Many passersby were interested in what was happening.

The two lawyers used solid facts and had sufficient evidence to form a strong legal case to refute the false evidence fabricated by the Zhenxing District Police Department, the prosecutor, and the court. Every sentence that they spoke made the persecutors nervous and impressed the audience. Finally, the trial had to adjourned.

As the lawyers walked out of the courthouse gate, those who had attended the hearing and Ms. Ren's family gathered around them and asked what would happen to Ms. Ren.

People admired the lawyers' courage in resisting the corrupt legal system and for speaking out for good and innocent people. They were moved by the fact that these lawyers would, in a legal capacity, speak out for Falun Gong practitioners. One person said, "The climate is changing--evil has gone over the edge, and now there is hope for good people!" A man in his 80s told the lawyers, "In front of the courthouse, I could not shout, 'Long live lawyers!' But I wish you a long life!" and added, "God will bless good people like you!"
