Judge Involved in Persecuting Falun Gong Receives Karmic Retribution (Photos)

March 20, 2009

(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' note: In both Western and Chinese cultures, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The universe will reward acts that are in harmony with this principle, while doing things such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

In mid-February, 2009, Zhang Wen, 57 years old, suddenly fell ill. Wen was the vice president and a member of the Court Trial Committee in the New District of northern Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The local hospital could not make a diagnosis. Wen died on the way to a Beijing Hospital.

Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, the New District Court of northern Shenyang City (formerly known as New Town District Court) has actively persecuted practitioners in its system and other practitioners in the district. In particular, from October to December 2008, the court sentenced four Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Xi Changhai, Ms. Wang Sumei, Mr. Sun Yushu, and Mr. Huo Defu to eleven, ten, eight, and six years of imprisonment, respectively.

On July 21, 2008, Ms. Wang Sumei was arrested by police from the New District Public Security Bureau. She was held in a detention center in Shenyang City. On October 8, 2008, Ms. Wang was prosecuted by procurators from the New District. On November 5, Ms. Wang was tried by the court. She tried to file an appeal, but her appeal was quickly dismissed by the Intermediate People's Court of Shenyang on December 23.

On September 4, 2008, Mr. Xi Changhai was arrested by police from New District Public Security Bureau. He was detained in the New District Detention Center in northern Shenyang City. On October 14, 2008, he was prosecuted by the procurator from the New District. On December 5, 2008, Mr. Xi was tried by the court. When Mr. Xi appealed to the higher court, his appeal was dismissed by the Intermediate People's Court of Shenyang on February 2, 2009.

Mr. Sun Yushu and Mr. Huo Defu did not appeal their sentences to the higher court. They were detained in the Xihu Prison in Benxi City. Mr. Xi Changhai was held at the New District Detention Center in northern Shenyang City. Ms. Wang Sumei was detained in the Zaohua Detention Center in Shenyang City. Mr. Xi Changhai and Ms. Wang Sumei's families hired lawyers to defend them. On February 18 and 19, 2009, Mr. Xi and Ms. Wang were drafting their complaints and were ready to send them by express mail to Bian Fuxue, President of the Intermediate Court in Shenyang City. Zhang Wen suddenly died that day.

The author of this article hopes the death of Zhang Wen will awaken CCP officials at all levels to the proximity of karmic retribution for the atrocities they have participated in during the persecution of Falun Gong. The author also warns officials of the New District: the CCP is corrupt from inside out; you must stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners to avoid sharing the CCP's dreadful fate.
