Ms. Kang Aimin Arrested by the Jiamusi Police

March 31, 2009

(Clearwisdom.net) At 11 a.m. on March 9, 2009, police from the Heilongjiang Province Public Security Bureau and the Jianshe Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Kang Aimin's son and forcibly took Ms. Kang away.

Under the direct order of the Heilongjiang Province Public Security Bureau, the Jiamusi Police Department arrested more than 20 practitioners with the excuse of searching for those who set up speakers to broadcast the facts about Falun Gong. They also listed the names of Ms. Kang Aimin and five other practitioners that were wanted.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong began, Ms. Kang has been repeatedly harassed, arrested, detained, tortured, and financially persecuted by the local police. Her home has also been searched many times. What follows is only part of what she has suffered.

In the winter of 2000, Ms. Kang went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. She was taken to the provincial office in Beijing. The police took away the 200 yuan that she carried in her pocket. Afterwards she was taken to the Jiamusi Detention Center. The guards extorted several thousand yuan from the company she worked for. The company fired her because of this. In October 2001, the Xilin Police Station arrested Ms. Kang and released her after extorting more money from her. Later on, the police arrested her again and took her to the Xiangyang Police Department. Ms. Kang managed to walk away from the police department. Since then, she has become homeless and destitute in order to avoid being arrested at home.

In 2002, she and another practitioner were arrested by the Huanan Police Station while they were explaining the facts about Falun Gong in a remote mountainous area. She was detained there for one month and was on the verge of death as a result of the persecution. She was then transferred to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp for another fifteen days. In the same year, the Youyi Road Police Station arrested her and other practitioners while they were explaining the facts about Falun Gong. She was not released until her family paid 3000 yuan. On the night of May 15, 2002, Ms. Kang and her two sisters were arrested in their apartment. Ms. Kang was then sent to a forced labor camp for two years.

In the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Kang was brutally persecuted. She was confined in a small room of the strict monitoring team. She wasn't allowed out for several months. Because she refused to give up her belief, the guards tied her on a bed and did not allow her to wash her face or brush her teeth. One day, she refused to write the three statements as ordered. The guards responded by handcuffing her behind her back and restraining her on an "iron bed." She was in so much pain that drops of sweat kept rolling off her. Finally, she fainted. During the hot summer, the guards forced her and other practitioners to keep walking in the yard. As a result, Ms. Kang had a heart attack. The guards also illegally extended her term by one month and seven days.

At the end of March 2006, Ms. Kang and two practitioners were arrested by the Shunhe Road Police Station and taken to a detention center because they explained the facts about Falun Gong. During that period, her father passed away because he could not bear such intense pressure. Her family had hoped that Ms. Kang, the oldest daughter, would be able to see her father one last time. The guard in charge took the opportunity to extort money from her. Ms. Kang's family spent much money and went to great efforts to get her released. By that time, she had been detained for more than 40 days.
