Mr. Chiang I-han, an ink painter, and member of the Aesthetic Education Committee in the Department of Education, as well as professor at Tunghai University, watched the DPA show on March 4 in Taichung and said his first feeling was, "It is a high-caliber artistic performance company."

He said, "The programs and backdrops harmonized very successfully. This artistic performance company consisting mainly of Chinese performers will definitely promote the Chinese traditional culture to the world due to its high level of artistic skills."

The 82-year-old artist said, "This is the third time I have attended a DPA show. Art is the most original and pure expression of life. Without art, there is no culture. Art represents the best part of culture. DPA has made a great contribution to this point."

Mr. Chiang said his favorite program was "Dance of the Snow-capped Mountain," "The backdrops and the costumes are very good. Programs like these about Xiangjiang or Tibet are not available in the west. The drum play of Shanxi and Shanbei is also number one. I think the biggest feature of this artistic performance company is that it performs dances of ethnic minorities. I think this is new. Such programs will gain more acclaim and support in the world."

He praised the program "The Poet's Vision," "This is hard to perform. It is the most successful program. The backdrops are very important. One most important condition is the coordination with performers on stage."

Mr. Chiang teaches calligraphy and traditional painting, and studies aesthetics. He acclaimed, "The natural scenery on the backdrops, the mountains, costumes and all performers' performance were coordinated perfectly. The full moon was so large, it was the perfect episode."

Farmer Painter: Let people in the world know about such good programs

Farmer painter Huang Kuo-hua said after watching the show, "The dancing, especially the flipping skills, were performed wonderfully. It was really great."

Mr. Huang praised the perfection of the stage art by DPA. He especially liked the program "Legend of the Brush," "I felt the gestures of the performers were so vivid. It was really grand master level. The actions were so nimble and appeared true to the writings. The gestures of holding the brush were truly great."

He continued, "The DPA performers' skills are really good. It should be promoted to all artists at a national level in Taiwan to watch. I hope this show can continue to tour more places, to allow more people in the world to see such good programs."
