Hawaii: Chinese Audience Member: Shen Yun Makes Me Proud

April 3, 2009 |   By Minghui Correspondent Kelly Huang

(Clearwisdom.net) Waves of applause filled the theater during the two Shen Yun Performing Arts shows at the Blaisdell Concert Hall in Hawaii on March 31, 2009. Singers Tian Ge and Bai Xue sang additional songs at the audience's request. Susan, originally from Mainland China, was greatly moved and excited by the show. She said, "I feel so proud to be a Chinese after watching the show!"

Susan grew up in a family of intellectuals. Her family has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She was so moved and filled with pride by the Shen Yun show that she felt as if she were regaining a new life. It lit up hope in her heart. She repeatedly thanked Shen Yun Performing Arts for presenting the precious traditional Chinese culture to the world and telling the world that China is a divine nation.

She said, "I read a lot about Shen Yun on the Internet. The reports said that Westerners were very touched by the Shen Yun. Wow! The Chinese culture is so great! China is a divine nation! I was very touched!"

Susan's voice quivered. She looked excited. She said she had been to many countries but she had a feeling of inferiority. She wouldn't tell people she was from Mainland China because people in other countries, Hong Kong and Taiwan looked down upon people from Mainland China. "I can feel it strongly. It seems Chinese are lower grade. I was completely westernized and thought, 'O.K. Forget about China.' For a period of time, I thought like many overseas Chinese, 'O.K., I won't be a Chinese.'"

But after watching Shen Yun, she thought, "I am so proud to be Chinese!" She realized how this show shook the hearts of people of different nations. I realized the reason why she was so carried away and proud. It wasn't because non-Chinese praised the grand show. It was because the whole show presented thousands of years of Chinese history, classical culture and traditional values. "Wow! Our Chinese culture has so much I should be proud of!"

Susan said she has realized why Mainland Chinese are looked down upon: this was caused by the CCP. The CCP has destroyed the traditional Chinese culture. Many Chinese nowadays don't know what benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, and honesty are. The Shen Yun show introduced the divine Chinese culture not only to foreigners, but also to Chinese. Susan repeatedly expressed her admiration and gratitude to the artists of Shen Yun and the organizer of the show. The show introduced the treasure of Chinese culture to her and gave her a new life.

Susan is opposed to the CCP's persecution of innocent people, including Falun Gong practitioners. She thinks the political movements launched by the CCP have made people suffer so much that many avoid criticizing the CCP to protect themselves and their families. She thinks it is great the show exposed the persecution of Falun Gong.
