Aug. 25, 2009

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 22, Shen Yun Performing Arts presented its second show at Jefferson Convention Center Concert Hall in Birmingham, Alabama. Many local Chinese residents came to see the show and gave it high marks afterward.

Mr. Lin is an engineer. He watched the show with his father, who came from Mainland China for a visit. They both enjoyed the show and said they would definitely watch Shen Yun again next year if possible.

Mr. Lin's father is a metallurgy professor in China, and he enjoyed the dancing and tenor Hong Ming's vocal solo. He is also a fan of tenor Guimin Guan, another lead singer of Shen Yun Performing Arts and one the most popular tenors in China in the 1980s. Mr. Lin also gave high marks to the dancers and said that they were great.

As an engineer, Mr. Lin paid special attention to the state-of-the-art backdrop, saying it was very creative and really opened up the stage.

Dr. Jing Li

Dr. Jing Li, a practicing dentist in Birmingham, watched the show with his family. He felt that Shen Yun was very special as he felt the hearts of the performers. "I have been in the US for over 10 years, and this is the very first time for me to see such a high quality show. This is also a great opportunity to let local Americans learn about Chinese culture. I love the story-telling dances as they gave me a sense of homecoming."

Dr. Li was also impressed by the performances which portrayed the persecution of Falun Gong in China. He has seen news about the persecution and was shocked by the brutality revealed by the performance. "People should have freedom of belief, and I hope that Chinese people in the US will step forward to offer some help to end the persecution."

Mr. Shi and his wife Ms. Zhang came to the US 13 years ago. Mr. Shi conducts medical research while Ms. Zhang is an accountant. During the intermission, Mr. Shi described the show as "Magnificent!" He said that the performance was very authentic and the dancers were well trained.

Mr. Shi said that he rarely watched programs from Mainland China. "Products from China can be summarized with just one word: fake! Everything is fake: drugs, food, ..."

"This show is so touching and truly gave me a completely different feeling. It gave an excellent presentation of Chinese culture and you can also feel the dedicated hearts of the performers. It is so good!"

When asked about the program which portrayed the persecution of Faun Gong in China, Ms. Zhang said that she was deeply touched by it. "It conveyed an important message: people should pay attention to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. If everyone can do this, this world will be more peaceful and more beautiful," Mr. Shi added.

"I never expected that the show would be so good and I am truly touched...We will recommend it to all our friends and hope that we can see it again next year." Mr. Shi said.
