Looking Inside After Reading Teacher's Article "Be Vigilant"

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 6, after reading Teacher's new article "Be Vigilant", I began to identify fellow practitioners' shortcomings. Although activities were held for everyday people, they seldom attended, and most participants were fellow practitioners. Such activities could not save sentient beings. I blamed fellow practitioners for wasting our time and manpower, thus delaying other Fa-validating projects. But I realized my own problem immediately. I asked myself: Why did I make such a mistake? I had found fault with our activities in the past, so I believed that Teacher was referring to the practitioners who coordinated the activities.

I was wrong. Teacher was not only referring to them, but referring to me as well. Isn't Teacher's Fa for every practitioner? Isn't Teacher talking to me? Why do we study the Fa? Shouldn't we look within and find our own shortcomings while studying the Fa? Why do I look outside myself and find fault with others?

The activities designed to save sentient beings could not achieve their goal. Is this the fault of practitioners who  coordinated the activities? No. The issue of all practitioners forming one body is the issue here. The responsible practitioners worked hard, but we didn't promote the activities with our hearts. We didn't form one body. Therefore, we couldn't attract ordinary people to take part in our activities. Take me for example. Actually I did only a few things for promoting the activities. If every practitioner did the same as I did, how could our activities save sentient beings? Therefore, I am at fault and I shouldn't blame others.

From this experience, I clearly saw my serious shortcoming. While studying the Fa, I always felt that Teacher was referring to others. I have always required that others act according to the Fa, and pointed out their shortcomings with perfect assurance.

Additionally, I was enlightened to one point: If any fellow practitioner has a shortcoming, Teacher may point it out and hope he will do better in the future. That's the relationship between Teacher and practitioners. However, when problems occur, we shouldn't find fault with others. Instead, we should look within ourselves and see where our shortcomings are.
