Feb. 6, 2010

(Clearwisdom.net) From May, 2000 to May, 2008, Liu Wanqing was the Party Secretary and the Chief of the Prison Management Bureau in Hunan Province. He had an extravagant lifestyle which was supported by the large bribes he often received. There was no other explanation as to why he had such a large amount of personal assets. In May 2008, he was promoted to the position of Inspector of the Political and Judiciary Committee in Hunan Province. By October 2009, he was under investigation by the justice department. Liu's case was connected with the bribery case of Xiang Jianchun, the Warden of Deshan Prison in Hunan Province.

During the period of 2008 to 2009, heavy sentences for corruption and bribery were handed down to the Financial Controller of the Prison Management Bureau in Hunan Province, Liao Xiucheng, the Deputy Financial Controller of the Prison Management Bureau in Hunan Province, Luo Hui, and the Superintendent of the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province, Peng Cexin.

Reports from the Clearwisdom website indicate that Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured, subjected to brainwashing and forced to do production work in the prisons of Hunan Province. On August 10, 2004 the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong issued a notice on the investigation of Liu Wanqing, who was the Chief of the Prison Management Bureau in Hunan Province.
