May 17, 2010

(Clearwisdom.net) Shen Yun Performing Arts continues to delight audiences at the Big Top Theatre in Lunar Park, Sydney, Australia, on its eleven-show tour of the NSW capital city, from May 9-19, 2010.

Shadow attorney general of New South Wales, Greg Smith.

Seeing Shen Yun for the first time, Greg Smith, Shadow attorney general of New South Wales, thought it was "spectacular." "I think the artists are beautifully trained and costumed ... the music is great and the scenery is terrific. Wonderful show," he exclaimed.

In talking about the two dance sets Nothing Can Block the Divine Path and Astounding Conviction― which depict the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in contemporary China― Mr. Smith described Australians as "a peace loving people" who offer fair treatment to people from a different background, religious activity and affiliation.

Reflecting back on the various ethnic dances in the show, Mr. Smith remarked, "I think it's wonderful to continue with traditional cultures whatever the ethnic background is. I am very keen on watching other people's cultural activity."

Mr. Smith added, "I thought the Mongolian dance set [Mongolian Hospitality] was really good and I also liked the Tibetan one, too [Tibetan Dance of Praise]. I think they were the best. I particularly liked the color in the Mongolian one. The orange costumes were very effective."

"The whole show is absolutely spectacular," concluded Mr. Smith.

Shen Yun dances are "special and unique"

Mr. Ward, a company director for Newington Automotive, with Karen Edwards, who has a musical background.

Mr. Ward, a company director for Newington Automotive, thought the show was "beautiful!" "It's so rhythmic and the color and the movement is fantastic ... All the dances are all so smooth and fluid and everyone moves so well together. It's very relaxing and soothing. I really enjoyed it," he said.

With a background in the clarinet and classical piano, Mr. Ward said that he particularly enjoyed the dance set, Mongolian Hospitality, saying, "It was just so rhythmic.

"They were all so well together and had a lot of vibrance, and the color was beautiful," he said.

Accompanying Mr. Ward was Karen Edwards, who used to play and teach classical piano and spent part of her time at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

On commenting on the piano accompaniment, Ms. Edwards said, "I think she was very good, very good ... She played very beautifully, so big ticks for her."

When asked to describe her experience of Shen Yun, Ms. Edwards replied, "Oh very enjoyable, just beautiful. It also is coordinated so well and everything just flows together.

"So it is highly, just very moving, and I really enjoyed the Tibetan dance ... the movements, the scenery, and the colors. It sort of added to the whole essence of the movements."

In concluding, Ms. Edwards thought that overall, the show was "Just beautiful!" "It's not something you witness every day. It is that special and unique ... and it's just a bit of fresh air really."

"Highly spectacular, extravagant and very interesting"

Also in the audience was Nikky Black, a photographer, who attended the show with her four-year-old daughter and her friend, Carol Barker.

When Ms. Black's daughter was asked what part of the show she liked best, she replied that she liked "All of it! I like the dancing and the singing."

Carol agreed, saying the show was "spectacular."

Ms. Black pointed out that the male performers were very masculine, adding, "I thought the women were so beautiful and they had a message behind there, and I got it: repression and overcoming evil, going to heaven and coming down from Heaven."

She concluded by saying that she would tell her friends that the performance was "highly spectacular, extravagant and very interesting."

Shen Yun is "well worth seeing!"

Mr. Cluett at Sydney's Big Top Theatre, Luna Park, on May 14.

Mr. Cluett, a public servant, described his experience of the two dance sets, Nothing Can Block the Divine Path and Astounding Conviction, as "It was beautiful seeing all that color and spectacle, and the dancing. They were just so beautifully choreographed.

"When that poor lady died and the spirits came to escort her off to a peaceful life in Heaven, after she'd been tortured and killed by the Chinese [communist] guards ... Just nice to see how her future life is going to be much more happy and peaceful; even though it was very sad that the poor little girl wasn't with her anymore.

"That was very touching, that part, it brought a tear to my eye ... Many audience members shed tears," Mr. Cluett said.

He continued, "I suppose it is saying that there is hope, that the spirit always lives on. It was a good message: we should all live in harmony and peace and just wish all of this persecution would cease, because we keep on hearing about it and it doesn't seem to be getting any better."

Overall Mr. Cluett said he thought that the show was "just such a wonderful spectacle ... and seeing the traditional costumes and dancing and how very practiced they are. It's well worth seeing!"
