(Clearwisdom.net) Police in Sunji Town, Shouguang, Shandong Province, arrested several Falun Gong practitioners, tortured them, and extorted money from them between December 2009 and January 31, 2010.
Ms. Zhang Faxiang in Shouguang was arrested by three officers from the Sunji Police Station while she was working in a coal mine in the afternoon on December 21, 2009. She was taken to an ammunition storage depot and brutally tortured. In biting cold weather with temperatures ten degrees below zero, she was handcuffed to an iron chair and not allowed to sleep for five days and nights. She was sentenced to a year in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Around Chinese New Year's Day, Shouguang Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members transferred her to Shouguang Detention Center from the forced labor camp. They charged her with being involved in the production of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party a few years ago. Ms. Zhang has fallen ill but has not been released yet.
At the same time, local police arrested three more practitioners. One of them was Ms. Zhang Wenying from Dali Village. Ms. Zhang was handcuffed to an iron chair for four days and nights. She was released after they extorted 7,000 yuan from her. Another elderly lady from Zhaizi Village suffered brutal beatings. She was released after they had extorted 26,000 yuan from her. They also arrested an elderly man from Wangpi Village.
Ms. Zhang Fengmei in Huying Village was arrested on January 20, 2010. On the morning of January 23, the police arrested her daughter and forced her to tell them about the Falun Gong materials that her mother had produced. Ms. Zhang's daughter was released after they extorted 5,000 yuan from her family. Ms. Zhang Fengmei is now being detained at the Shouguang Detention Center.
Police arrested Mr. Zheng Faxin from Zhengjiazhuang and Liu Junhua from Huying Village on January 23, 2010. Mr. Zheng was detained in an ammunition storage depot. He was tied to a pillar and brutally beaten.
