Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they too be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.
Jiang Suwei, deputy chief of the Suzhou City Police Department in Jiangsu Province, died of a heart attack the night of July 6, 2010. As the No. 2 person in charge of persecuting Falun Gong in Suzhou City, many people aware of the situation believe that he received karmic retribution.
After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Jiang Suwei went all out to follow the Chinese Communist Party's policy to eradicate Falun Gong. Under his directive, the various 610 Offices, police departments, police stations, and Domestic Security Divisions in subordinate counties and districts of Suzhou City arrested and detained many local practitioners. Numerous families were thus broken apart.
Jiang Suwei stepped up his persecution efforts during the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2010 World Expo. He ordered that every practitioner be closely followed and monitored during those dates, so that they could not go out to clarify the facts. As a result, at least ten practitioners were sent to labor camps and prisons, and many more were detained.
Jiang Suwei received numerous awards for his persecution of Falun Gong. He was named a "national pioneer" in fighting Falun Gong and received the National Order of Merit in December 2006.
