(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Jian was illegally arrested by police from Meichang Town and the Wuqing District Domestic Security Division on September 15, 2010. Her daughter, parents and grandmother, who is nearly 90 years old, are all very concerned about her.

A trial was held at Wuqing Court on November 30, 2010 for Ms. Yang. Her defense lawyers were Mr. Jin Guanghong and Mr. Xie Yanyi. The lawyers informed the court that practicing Falun Gong is not illegal in China, and then proceeded to tell the court the facts about Falun Gong for the next four hours.

Ms. Yang Jian is still being held at the Wuqing District Detention Center. Her mother, Ms. Liu Chunjun, wrote an open letter to the residents in Wuqing District. The details are below:

My daughter is Yang Jian, and she graduated from Jinan Industrial University in Shandong Province. She used to work at the Jinan Power Plant and Tianjin Power Plant. After she got divorced, she worked in the Hangu Salt Factory.

Yang Jian used to practice Falun Gong before 1999. However, she stopped after being harassed and put under a lot of pressure by the authorities. She resumed practicing in 2009, after realizing her mistake, and soon became optimistic about her life again. She wished to tell more and more people about the beauty of Dafa so that they could also benefit from the practice.

However, on September 15, 2009, Yang Jian was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Meichang Police Station and the Wuqing Domestic Security Division. On November 30, 2010, she was put on trial at the Wuqing Court. Mr. Jin Guanghong and Mr. Xie Yanyi from Beijing were her defense attorneys, and put forward a “not guilty” plea. Even though the people present at the trial were moved by her lawyers' defense, she has still not been released.

When my daughter was arrested, her daughter Li Zhengxin was twelve years old. The police went to my granddaughter's school to threaten her. After that, she has become withdrawn and easily frightened.

I need to take care of my 88-year-old mother-in-law, who is bedridden. Yang Jian used to take care of her. Yang Jian's father suffers from depression because his daughter is being persecuted. He broke his leg a few days ago and has a hard time looking after himself. The entire financial burden of supporting our family is now placed on me, because I am the only person who can work. I really do not know how much longer I can endure this pressure and responsibility. It has been eight months since my daughter was illegally arrested. I haven't been able to see her, but I heard that she has been beaten in the detention center.

We hope that people with a conscience, including those who have harmed my family, will unconditionally release Yang Jian. Please don't help the police to commit wrongdoings.
