(Clearwisdom.net) Turkey's largest privately-owned newspaper Hurriyet published an article on its online edition, entitled, “People Seeking Freedom of Practice,” on June 27, 2011. The author, Oguz Demir interviewed several Turkish Falun Gong practitioners before writing the report.

Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reports on Falun Gong

The article first introduced Falun Dafa and discussed how it has spread to more than 100 countries in the world, with millions of people practicing it. It stated that many people in Turkey have improved their health and cultivated their hearts and souls through practicing Falun Gong. The article described that in the parks of several cities in Turkey, every weekend, many people can be seen practicing Falun Gong. However, such a cultivation practice, which benefits people's physical and mental wellbeing, and which originated in ancient China, has been banned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since July 20, 1999. Overnight, practitioners in China were deprived of their right to freedom of practice.

The article reported that over the past several years, Falun Gong practitioners in Turkey have held themselves strictly to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and continuously cultivated and improved themselves. At the same time, they have been using various means to tell the Turkish people and government the facts about Falun Gong, expose the CCP's lies and slander, and call for an end to the CCP's inhuman persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

The article also stated that in order to help more people in Turkey become aware of the beauty of Falun Dafa, practitioners overcame considerable interference and obstructions last year, and were able to invite the world famous Shen Yun Performing Arts to successfully present several performances in Turkey.
