The Persecution I Suffered and Witnessed at Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp

Aug. 15, 2011 |   By a practitioner from Inner Mongolia

(Clearwisdom.net) Just before the Beijing Olympics in 2008, I was illegally detained in Division No. 1 of Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp. I was immediately taken to a secret cell specifically used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, locked up there for seven days and nights, and watched by inmates 24 hours a day.

Seven days later I was transferred to the workshop and forced to do hard labor. Everyone was given a huge work quota to meet and if the quota was not met, their sentence was extended. Prison wardens Lu Junqing, Cui Min and Zhong Zhirong increased the production quota for practitioners who refused to give up the practice and persecuted them further by making them stand, depriving them of sleep, as well as other torture methods. Some practitioners were forced to stand for long periods of time until their legs became swollen and they could not walk.

A month later, I was transferred to Division 3. My work load was increased and I had to grow vegetables, feed animals, wrap wooden chopsticks and carry out other duties. The main perpetrators were prison wardens Chang Hong, Huang Xuhong, Jia Xiaoling and Chen Xia.

Practitioner Ms. Zhu Shuqin is in her 50s. She fainted several times from the exhausting labor and was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. She was not allowed to rest after her discharge from the hospital and was sent to continue working in the factory. On June 15, 2009, she collapsed again and was taken away by an ambulance. Since then, no one knows what her condition is.

Ms. Song Caiping is 67 years old. She was pushed to work so hard that she could no longer carry anything with her hands. Prison wardens punished her by extending her sentence for more than eight months. She was finally released in December 2009. After she was detained her only son became so worried about her that he developed a brain tumor and passed away. Chang Hong and other police officers escorted Ms. Song to Dalian to attend her son's funeral. The family was extorted for 5,000-6,000 yuan to pay for the group's travel expenses.

Once during a meeting to announce the extension of Ms. Song's prison sentence, a practitioner whose last name is Liang shouted, “Falun Dafa is good, stop the illegal extension of prison terms.” She was instantly handcuffed and dragged out of the room. Later on, Ms. Song's prison term was extended another month.

Ms. Zhao Yan and Ms. Zhou Liying were forced to stand for long periods of time by the above-mentioned prison wardens. They were not allowed to sleep and could not buy food or daily necessities. They were also often brutally beaten by convicts Jia Zhifen and Jiang Ziyan, who were abetted by the prison wardens. Jia Zhifen once tied Ms. Zhao's hands behind her back, taped her mouth shut and viciously beat her. Jiang Ziyan is a drug addict and she was instructed to monitor practitioners at night. Ms. Zhou Liying was once viciously beaten by Jiang.

In June 2008, all Falun Gong practitioners detained in the labor camp were gathered in Division No. 2. In September, around two dozen practitioners were transferred from Beijing. We were assembled together by prison wardens in Division No. 2, Peng Yumei, Liu Yan, Sun Xiaofang, Wang Liqun. Every day we were forced to watch DVDs defaming Falun Gong and listen to Communist Party songs. We were interrogated and forced to write statements denouncing Falun Dafa.

The above are details about the maltreatment I experienced and witnessed in Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp.
