Harbin Police Officers Arrest a Practitioner's Son as a Hostage, Later Arrest the Mother and Several Others

(Clearwisdom.net) Four officers from Dongmen Police Station in the Hulan District in Harbin broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Yuhua on Xinmin Street in the afternoon on December 20, 2011. Ms. Guo wasn't at home, so the police arrested her son and took him as a hostage. Later on, the police called Ms. Guo and demanded that she come to the police station to replace her son. Ms. Guo was worried about her son and went to the police station. She was arrested and hasn't returned home since.

In the past, Ms. Guo was detained by officers from the Hulan District Police Station and had 1400 yuan extorted from her simply because she practices Falun Gong.

Recently, many practitioners in the Hulan District have been arrested and persecuted.

Ms. Liu Pengyun from Shiren Town in the Hulan District of Harbin was arrested at home and taken to the Hulan Detention Center on the morning of December 6, 2011.

Ms. Liu Wanjun was arrested around noon on November 7, 2011. Earlier in the morning that same day, Ms. Yang Xiuying was arrested at home.

Under the lead of a deputy head of the Songbei District Police Department in Harbin, on November 2, 2011, 12 officers broke into Ms. Wang Wei's private clinic in Kangjin Town in the Hulan District. Wang Wei; her sister, Wang Jiaojiao; and their mother, Wen Shufan, were all arrested. The police stole eight bank deposit books containing 700,000 yuan, three computers, and two cameras from them.

Heilongjiang Province Water and Electricity Company engineer Mr. Zhang Qingsheng and his daughter, Zhang Hui, were arrested on October 18, 2011. Mr. Zhang is currently detained at the 7th Division of the Harbin Police Department. The whereabouts of his daughter is unknown. Zhang Qingsheng's wife, Sun Yunhua, passed away as a result of being persecuted by Hulan police officers in 2004.
