(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Mulan of Wuhan City was sentenced illegally by a communist court in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province to three and a half years. When Liu appealed her case to the Huizhou City Intermediate People's Court, her appeal was rejected without a hearing.

On the evening of June 25, 2011, Liu was distributing fliers in the Huiyang District of Huizhou City, when she was arrested by a police officer from the Shanhe Police Station. She was held at the Huiyang Detention Center in Huizhou City.

On July 21 the police department in Huiyang District informed Ms. Liu's family in writing that she was arrested. On August 26, 2011 the Procuratorate in Huiyang District notified Huiyang District Court that a charge had been placed against Liu. The court notified Liu's family that a hearing would be held on September 16, 2011.

Ms. Liu defended herself in the court. The hearing lasted less than 40 minutes. Four days later the court decided to sentence Liu to three and a half years in prison. Liu believed that she is innocent and appealed to Huizhou City Intermediate People's Court. Without holding a hearing, the court decided to uphold the original sentence.

Ms. Liu is now telling people the facts about Falun Gong inside the prison. Some people who understand her said, “She is a kind person. There is no reason for her to be there. Hopefully, her family can work out some way to get her out of prison.”

When Ms. Liu's family members spoke to Deputy Judge Pan Jianhui about the case, Pan said, “Since you are from a different province, the sentence was three and a half years. Here, the minimum sentence is three years. Liu got an additional half-year because of her refusal to cooperate. For local practitioners the sentence is usually five to seven years.”
