(Clearwisdom.net) Guards in Ward No.5 in Hebei Province Women's Prison brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners in an attempt to force them to be “transformed”. They torture practitioners by hanging them up. The practitioner's hands are cuffed at the top of a window, with just the tips of their toes touching the ground. Many practitioners were subjected to this torture. Guards also force practitioners to do hard labor.

In late 2009, practitioner Ms. Zhang Lingxiu was subjected to being hung up. For the first few days, her tiptoes touched the ground in the daytime, and during the night, she was allowed to have her feet rest on a small stool. Later on, she was handcuffed to a lower position of the window, but she was deprived of sleep for ten days. Her feet became as swollen as her large cotton-padded shoes. Her legs were also swollen, and the skin on her legs changed color and cracked. Finally she couldn't squat when using the restroom. Later on, Ms. Zhang was forced to do hard labor, working more than ten hours each day. During the night, she was held in a solitary confinement cell, where she was deprived of sleep. Two groups of inmates took turns monitoring her, forbidding her to sleep. In late January 2010, Zhang was sick and lay in bed (upper berth). When collaborator Yu Shuying threw her out of the bed, Zhang's head was slammed against the ground and developed a large lump. Collaborator Song Aimin dragged her into a small cell, and carried her to the corridor outside the workshop the next day. She threw Zhang onto the cold cement floor, and opened the window to let in the cold wind to freeze her.

Ms. Zhang Maoxia was tortured to the point of being in critical condition. Collaborator Song Aimin still handcuffed her to a window. Ms. Zhang currently walks slowly, and her voice is like a whisper. She is often out of breath when doing hard labor. Song Aimin was rewarded for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners by having her sentence reduced, and she was released early.

Ms. Cai Juan was placed in solitary confinement for more than 20 days. She was once handcuffed to a metal door with Ms. Zhang Maoxia.

Several criminals beat Ms. Zhang Lijun in the workshop storehouse for a long time. She was in terrible physical condition when they were done abusing her. Ms. Zhang, who was given a lengthy sentence, has been subjected to physical abuse and torture for many years. Even though she is physically weak, she is still forced to do hard labor. Criminal lead Wang Xiuhua slapped her in the face and criminal inmates beat her. She was once beaten on her way back from doing hard labor by criminal lead Zheng Haiyan and other criminals.

Practitioners in Ward No. 5 are forced to do hard labor more than ten hours daily in a tense environment. Criminal lead Sun Yuemei verbally abused those practitioners who fell ill. As a form of torture, practitioners are often beaten and forced to stand for a long time.

Several practitioners have been physically tortured and mentally tormented. The guards order criminals to control and supervise practitioners. In order to get their terms reduced, the criminals are cruel and merciless.
