Cultivating in Dafa Is the Safest Thing You Can Do

Feb. 19, 2012 |   By a practitioner in China

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a practitioner from northeast China. I would like to share some experiences to demonstrate what is the safest you can do.

Truly caring for others turned danger into safety

I learned in 2005 that deputy head A of the Domestic Security Division came from a poor peasant family. He finished college and found a job in the police department. It was not easy for him to get this deputy position. I decided to offer him salvation and not to let the evil destroy him. I went to the police department with a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party to speak with him. He immediately said upon seeing me, "How dare you come here!? We have been looking for you."

As they held me there, I had mixed feelings—nervousness, regret and fear. But I immediately thought that I should send forth righteous thoughts, not acknowledging any persecution. He eventually got a headache and decided to take a nap in another room. Another officer was left to watch me. I kept sending forth righteous thoughts and mused how pitiful their position was—that they had to persecute Falun Gong practitioners to make a living. After deputy head A woke up, he returned and said to me, “Let's go.” He didn't bring any other officer with him, drove me to my home, and dropped me off.

Human notions made a "ghost" appear

During the 2011 Chinese New Year, several practitioners made many Dafa couplets(1) by hand. We hung them in the apartment to dry out. When we were all in a good state, we could quickly make good-quality couplets quickly; otherwise, the characters were not printed clearly or the ink smeared.

One day, building management staff came to collect money for entry permits, which made some of the practitioners nervous. Another day, Practitioner B found that someone had forgotten to lock the door and was worried that we might be discovered making couplets. Then there was the third instance. In order to make more couplets, we opened a new site in a nearby building in the same residential court, where we could dry the couplets using the building's heating system.

That day an unknown person (a “ghost”) came to the new site, had a look around, and left without saying anything. The practitioners working in that apartment were very worried about safety. Two days later all the couplets in that apartment were destroyed and the shelves were torn down. The practitioners stopped using that site. The true situation was this: That unknown person was my father, also a practitioner. He had gone to that apartment to see whether he could help out with anything. However, the practitioners in the apartment that day were from other places, and my father didn't know any of them. He thought everything was in order and just left without introducing himself.

After sharing with practitioners, we all thought that we should not allow the old forces to interfere with us, since we were doing the best and most righteous things in the world. We later resumed using that second site.

On Chinese New Year's Eve we first hung a couplet on the outside of my apartment door. Then my father and I went to different buildings to hang the couplets on the building gates. Once someone walked toward us and asked what we were doing. I smiled and said we were hanging couplets. The man nodded his head and left. I had negative thoughts, since the man knew me. My father and I decided to go to another residential court. Just as we were going to start putting them up, a car approached and stopped in front of us, and a person in the car looked at us. We realized we were not in a good state and decided to go home.

We shared our thoughts and adjusted our state at home. I realized the couplet on my door was not quite good enough, with some of the words not printed right. I changed it for a much bigger one. A relative saw it and said, "Is it OK to put it outside?" These words kept coming to me, which made me not as calm as I had been before.

One day I came home and found the couplet had disappeared. The building management staff had taken it down. I shared my thoughts with my mother and realized my attachment of fear. I said to myself, "The purpose of hanging the couplet is to spread the truth and to rescue sentient beings." I thought of Master's words,

"Do not take your position among everyday people too seriously. Do not think that others will fail to understand you if you learn Dafa. Think about it: Even people's claim that they have evolved from apes is able to be highly regarded. Yet with this great Dafa of the universe, you are embarrassed to give it a correct position--this is human beings' true shame." ("Environment” from Essentials for Further Advancement)

I realized that I should hang the couplet on my door openly and with dignity.

Righteous thoughts manifest mighty powers

When I was fired from my job in 2001, because of fear I didn't go to my factory to ask for my personnel file. In 2004 my father and I went to the factory to ask for it. The factory's Chinese Communist Party (CCP) head refused to see us. We then went to his home to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution. Although he was not at home, we had a chance to talk to his wife and child. The next day he agreed to meet us in his office and helped us to transfer my personnel files out of the factory.

The day after the building staff member took the couplet from my apartment door, I went to her home to clarify the truth to her. I told her that people all over the world practiced Falun Dafa. In August my father and I went to her home again. Her husband said to my father, "Keep practicing [Falun Dafa] if it is good." My father advised him to quit the CCP, and he agreed.

Master said,

"...it's all right for our Dafa disciples to have human attachments, but how you manage to establish your own righteous thoughts is what's key. If your righteous thoughts are strong and you're like a cultivator at every moment--or, instead of saying 'every moment,' let's say when you come across certain things you can act as a Dafa disciple does--then you'll know how to handle things, you will produce miracles, you will demonstrate extraordinariness, you will be able to tell right from wrong, and you will be able to do everything well." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference")

The above stories are a few of my experiences in cultivation. Please point out anything improper.
