(Minghui.org) On November 17, 2011, police from Beijing arrested Falun Gong practitioners from the Huairou, Miyun, Changping, Haidian, and Chaoyang districts. In the Huairou District, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., police and agents from the Domestic Security Division, 610 Office, and different police stations carried out arrests non stop. One male practitioner was beaten so severely that his head was bleeding.
According to police, the Huairou District was given an arrest quota of 23 that day. To date, it is known that the following practitioners were either arrested or attempts to arrest them were unsuccessful: Ms. Wen Yuhong, Ms. Jia Cuihuan, the couple Ms. Liu Guijin and Mr. Ma Guiying, Ms. Wei Shuzhen (in her 50s), Ms. Sun Guiqing (60 years old), Ms. Wang Baohua (46), Ms. Wang Yalan (50), Ms. Ma Yuzhi (62), Mr. Guo Chengjun (32, from Chang Shaoying Village), Ms. Shi Lianhong (in her 60s), Ms. Chen Yueqian, Mr. Zhang Guangjun (40, from Huanghuazhen Village), and Mr. Sun Fuyi and his wife (in their 50s from Jiuduhe Village). Of these practitioners, Ms. Wen Yuhong, Ms. Chen Yueqian, Mr. Zhang Guangjun, Ms. Jia Cuihuan, Ms. Wang Baohua, and Mr. Sun Guiqing were sent to forced labor camps.
It was confirmed that practitioners from the Huairou District were betrayed by Zhang Junli. His daughter-in-law, Sun Fue, who used to practice Falun Gong, had an operation and practitioners went to visit her. Zhang Junli reported all the practitioners who kept in contact with his daughter-in-law. The 610 Office did not act on the information immediately; instead they tapped into the practitioners' phones and later arrested 12 of them.
1. Ms. Sun Guiqing, Ms. Wang Baohua, Ms. Wang Yalan, and Other Practitioners Arrested
On November 17, 2011, from 6:20 to around 7:30 p.m., Liu Yutian, head of Qiaozi Town 610 Office in the Huairou District, led a group of officers from the Domestic Security Division and police stations to break into and ransack the houses of Ms. Sun Guiqing, Ms. Wang Baohua, Ms. Wang Yalan, and Ms. Ma Yuzhi. Except for Ms. Ma, who was not at home, all the practitioners were arrested. Eight to ten police officers forced their way into every house and, upon entering, handcuffed the practitioners and confiscated their Dafa books, computers, and other belongings.
2. Ms. Wen Yuhong Sent to Forced Labor, Present Condition Worrying
Ms. Wen Yuhong from Huanghua Town is in her 50s. That night, she and her three-year-old granddaughter were arrested. Officers from the Huairou Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office then went back to ransack her house, taking away computers, a printer, and many personal belongings. Her savings of 5,000 yuan to pay for her grandchildren's school fees was also confiscated.
Ms. Wen Yuhong has been persecuted many times before. In 2004, Sun, deputy head of the Huangkan Police Station, and agents from the 610 Office directed officers to arrest her. She was tortured and became completely paralyzed. Although she was not able to take care of herself, the court still sentenced her to four years of imprisonment. While she was incarcerated in Beijing Women's Prison, she had to be carried up and down the stairs as well as to the toilet. Despite her fragile condition, guards Zheng Yumei and Tian Fengqing ordered convicts Li Xiaomei and Liu Xiuqin to try to brainwash her. When she refused to give up her belief, they tortured her. Li Xiaomei grabbed her hair and banged her head against the table. Liu Xiuqin kicked her paralyzed legs. In March 2008, after four years of persecution, Ms. Wen returned to her impoverished house. Through practicing Falun Gong for several months, she could stand up again.
On November 17, 2011, she was arrested again and sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor. She was taken to Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp. Every day from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., she was forced to sit on a small stool. She was not allowed to move, sleep, go to the toilet, drink, or given enough food. She was also forbidden to take showers.
After several days of this torture, she could barely walk, and her sight in both eyes became blurred. Every day she was forced to take a lot of drugs, and it is believed that they damaged her nervous system. After taking the drugs, her condition deteriorated even further. Her mind became scattered, her whole body hurt, and she was on the brink of death. She is now in the hospital.
3. Ms. Jia Cuihuan and Mr. Zhang Guangjun Arrested and Sent to Forced Labor
On November 17, at 6:30 p.m., the Huairou Domestic Security Division, 610 Office, and Miaocheng Town Police Station jointly dispatched 12 officers to break into Ms. Jia's home and arrest her. They ransacked her house for nearly four hours, taking Dafa books, a laptop, and a cell phone. Later, she was detained at the Nihe Detention Center in Shunyi County, Beijing. On December 26, 2011, without following any legal procedures, she was taken to the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp and held for two and a half years.
Mr. Zhang Guangjun was arrested the same day. He was subsequently sentenced to two years of forced labor and detained at the Tiantanghe Forced Labor Camp in Daxing County. As a result of the abuse, he developed severe symptoms of illness such as vomiting blood. His family requested medical parole but their request was denied.
4. Ms. Chen Yueqian Arrested and Taken to Inner Mongolia Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Chen Yueqian is 41 years old. On November 17, 2011, after dinner, she was helping her eight-year-old daughter with her homework when five officers from Chaoyang Domestic Security Division and Yayun Town Police Station broke into her house and arrested her. Subsequently her mother, who is in her 70s, and younger sister were harassed and interrogated until midnight. Ye from the Domestic Security Division and other police officers confiscated several DVDs, a laptop, and other belongings.
Forced to sit on a small stool for long hours
Ms. Chen was sentenced to two years of forced labor and imprisoned in Beijing Women's Prison. From 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day, she had to sit on a small stool. She became very pale and emaciated as a result. She has been transferred to Tumuji Forced Labor Camp in Jalaid Qi, Inner Mongolia.
5. Failed Attempt to Arrest Retired Female Teacher Ms. Ma Guiying
On November 17, 2011, at 6 p.m., about eight officers tried to break into Ms. Ma Guiying's apartment. She refused to open the door, so they got a locksmith. After over an hour, the locksmith still could not get the door open. Around 8 p.m., the police retreated to the first floor.
Ms. Ma is a retired teacher who started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. Her husband, Zhang Jinqi, is also a practitioner. As early as July 20, 1999, the couple was placed under house arrest. Later, they were persecuted regularly by the Huairou Domestic Security Division and 610 Office. The officials ransacked their house several times and confiscated their Dafa books and other belongings. The couple was arrested four times. In February 2001, both of them were transferred to Daxing Forced Labor Camp from Huairou Detention Center and subjected to brainwashing.
On April 23, 2009, Wang Xiaoyue, Gao Xiaofeng and two other officers from Huairou Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Ma's house, taking a computer, printer, DVD burner, MP3, portable drive, Dafa books, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and other materials.
Torture Re-enactment: Drenched with ice cold water
Mr. Zhang Jinqi, 76, is a retired engineer. He suffered from the aftereffects of frostbite and is classified with a level 6 handicap. In 2001, while he was detained at the Huairou Detention Center, on an extremely cold day, guards ordered inmates to strip off all his clothes and slowly poured 50 buckets of cold water over his head. He was beaten and abused at the same time. In February 2009, he again had symptoms of a stroke. The right side of his body was numb, and he could not talk or take care of himself. After the big arrest operation on November 17, 2011, he was frightened by the police shouting outside his house and his condition deteriorated. After the incident, he was so traumatized that he became a little muddleheaded. Huairou Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office refused to leave the couple alone and continue to monitor them.
6. Ms. Liu Guiqin Harassed and Monitored for a Week
On November 17, 2011, around 3 p.m., police knocked on the door of Ms. Liu Guiqin's house. Ms. Liu refused to open up. The police returned at midnight and knocked on her door again. She again refused to open the door. Two policemen stayed behind the whole night. At 6 a.m. the next morning, they knocked on the door again. She continued to ignore them and they finally left. However they were positioned downstairs in order to keep a close watch on her. They stopped every female that lived in the same block and checked their appearance against her photo. They finally stopped their surveillance a week later and left.
Ms. Liu is 64 years old. After the persecution started in July 1999, she was detained by Huairou Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office four times. In June 2001, she was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Police from Huairou Detention Center escorted her to Beijing Daxing Women's Forced Labor Camp. During a physical examination, it was discovered that she had a weak heart. The doctor said that she should be taken back to Huairou for treatment, but the police took her back to the labor camp.
In February 2004, Ms. Liu was unjustly sentenced to four years of imprisonment. In Beijing Women's Prison, she was watched over by convicts in three shifts and not allowed to sleep for six days and nights. She was made to sit on a small stool and write the prison rules. Her legs became so swollen she could not bend them and it was very difficult for her to wear shoes and socks. Her systolic blood pressure reached 220. In February 2008, just before she was due to be released, the prison subjected her to “leaving prison education.” She was ordered to write statements promising not to practice Falun Gong. When she refused to comply, she was sent to solitary confinement and forced to sleep on the floor, and inmates were sent to watch over her so that she could not sleep for two days and nights.
While Ms. Liu was imprisoned, her mother, who was in her 80s, could not bear the shock of her daughter's imprisonment and passed away. She was forbidden from seeing her mother for the last time. In 2005, unable to withstand the pressure, her husband divorced her.
