Three Practitioners Tried by Linchuan District Court in Fuzhou; Evidence Fabricated

Jan. 9, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Jiangxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) The Linchuan District Court in Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province, held a trial for Mr. Chen Yongqing, his wife Ms. Zhao Peng, and Ms. Xia Jiping at 9 a.m. on December 12, 2012. Two attorneys, from Beijing and Guangzhou, defended the three Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Zhao was released later that day, as she suffered a tuberculosis relapse and authorities did not want to bear responsibility for her condition. Mr. Chen and Ms. Xia are still held in the Fuzhou Detention Center.

The Domestic Security Division agents involved in the arrests of the three practitioners fabricated the evidence in order to convince the Procuratorate to put the practitioners on trial. The so-called “photo evidence” did not include any names or signatures of the officers working on the case, and neither did it include a record of time and place of collection or the required signatures from the arrested practitioners.

The agents claimed that they had verified the “evidence” provided to the Procuratorate; however, the Domestic Security Division does not have the authority to verify the evidence.

In addition, the written record for Ms. Xia presented by the Domestic Security Division was found to be inaccurate and not reflective of what Ms. Xia had actually said. Her defense attorney also noted that it did not conform to legal protocols. Ms. Xia requested the court to disclose the so-called “evidence” to the public, but Domestic Security Division officials refused to comply.

The defense attorneys asked the court to clear the three practitioners of all charges. However, the court announced that its decision would be disclosed another day.

Background Information

Mr. Chen Yongqing is in his 50s. His hands and feet are disabled. He earned a living by selling vegetables with his wife, Ms. Zhao Peng. Ms. Xia Jiping, 49, works as a housekeeper.

On August 9, 2012, He Fangming, director of the Linchuan District 610 Office, and Tu Leping, chief of the Domestic Security Division, along with approximately 10 police officers, broke into Ms. Xia's home and ransacked it. They confiscated a laptop, two printers and other personal property. Afterward, the police also ransacked Mr. Chen's home and took a set of satellite receivers, several thousand yuan in cash, four copies of Zhuan Falun, and other items. Ms. Xia, Mr. Chen and his wife, Ms. Zhao Peng, were arrested and taken to the Fuzhou Detention Center.

In the detention center, He Fangming forced Mr. Chen on a bed and proceeded to handcuff his hands behind his back, completely disregarding Mr. Chen's disability.

He Fangming has brutally persecuted many Falun Gong practitioners, causing them great physical harm. In September 2004, he brutally beat Ms. Liao Yulan and Ms. Yu Chenxi. Between 2002 and 2008, he also sent Ms. Li Xiangnu, Ms. Zhao Peng, Ms. Chen Junhong, Ms. Li Meizhen and Ms. Deng Xiaoqin to brainwashing centers.
