Factory Worker Sentenced to Forced Labor--Current Whereabouts Unknown

Nov. 1, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Hunan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Mingqing, 45, was arrested for distributing information about Falun Gong and the persecution. She was incarcerated in a forced labor camp and brutally tortured several times.

July 2013, after being released, she went to her former employer to apply for her pension. She disappeared shortly afterward, and her current whereabouts are unknown.

First Arrest and Forced Labor Term

Ms. Guo Mingqing worked in the agricultural fertilizer factory in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province. She was arrested along with Ms. Huang Duzhen and Ms. Luo Lanying in 2005, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. Their homes were ransacked, and Ms. Guo was sentenced to two years of forced labor. (We have no information about the other two practitioners.) She was held in the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City.

Second Arrest--Detained in a Brainwashing Center

Xie Anping, the director of the Shaoyang City 610 Office, along with three officers from the Shuangqing District Police Department and Domestic Security Division, and two officers from the Longxutang Office and the Zhuxi Community Office arrived at her home in June 2011 and demanded to be let in. When she did not open the door, an officer tried to open it with a master key but couldn't because she had locked the door from the inside. They then kicked in the door to enter.

She was taken to a brainwashing center located at the Shaoyang Military Hostel. Officers frisked her and confiscated her house key. Officers from the Shuangqing District Police Department and Domestic Security Division ransacked her home the next day.

Released after Holding a Hunger Strike

While she was detained at the brainwashing center, Ms. Guo held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Officials from the Shaoyang City 610 Office and the Shuangqing District Police Department had planned to transfer her to a detention center first, and then to a forced labor camp, but they had to release her because the detention center did not accept her, due to her hunger strike.

Arrested Again--Forced Labor Sentence

Ms. Guo was arrested at her workplace by plainclothes officers from Shaoyang City on the morning of March 20, 2012. She and her son lived with her mother, and officers from the Yuetang District Police Department informed her mother, Ms. Luo Anyin, that her daughter had been reported for speaking to students from an elementary school in Shaoyang City about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor.

Homeless to Avoid Further Persecution--Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Guo was reported to the police shortly after the 2013 Chinese New Year by a Communist Party secretary for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. To keep from being arrested or harassed by the local 610 Office and police station, she was forced to leave home for several months.

Someone later told Ms. Guo that she could go back to her former employer and apply for her pension, so she informed her family and fellow practitioners that she would go to the factory and apply. However, no one knows what happened after that, and her current whereabouts are unknown. Her mother is worried about her and has tried her utmost to find out where she is being held.
