(Minghui.org) Shahekou Court officials in Dalian convened an illegal trial on November 21, 2012, for Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Jian.
On July 6, 2012, officials from the Dalian City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the 610 Office, and the police department ordered over a dozen subsidiary police stations to arrest over 70 Falun Gong practitioners from Dalian, Jinzhou, and the Development Region using violent and deceptive methods.
Mr. Wang Jian works at the Dalian City Commercial Bank, Shajian Branch. He was arrested on July 6, 2012, by police from the Zhongshan District Domestic Security Division on his way to work. Officers confiscated his key and illegally searched his home. Officers Qu Gaoyang and Qin from Minzhu Square Police Station kept watch on Mr. Wang’s father while other officers ransacked the home, then confiscated a computer, printer, Dafa books, several hundred yuan in cash, and personal items. They also removed and took a satellite TV receiver. Police claimed that the car Mr. Wang was driving to work was used in a crime, so they also confiscated the car. Mr. Wang has been illegally detained at Yaojia Detention Center in Dalian.
Dalian City Police Department, Procuratorate, and court intended to sentence Mr. Wang to a prison term, but his family hired a lawyer to intervene. Heshakou District Court officials then planned to try Mr. Wang secretly on November 20, without notifying his lawyer or family. Mr. Wang's lawyer discovered their plans on November 16, when he met with Mr. Wang. The lawyer negotiated with the Procuratorate, and the court then reluctantly agreed to delay the trial for one day.
At 10:00 a.m. on November 21, Mr. Wang's elderly father and friends finally saw him in the courtroom, and noticed that he looked pale. Mr. Wang’s lawyer stated that he hadn't broken any laws by practicing Falun Gong. He also pointed out several violations of the law that took place from Mr. Wang's arrest to his trial. The courtroom attendees burst into resounding applause following the lawyer's defense statement.
