On June 22, 2011, Mr. Wang Zhidong went to Linjiang City to visit a friend and disappeared. In July a friend told his family that the police had gone to the friend's home and arrested Mr. Wang for practicing Falun Gong. They then sent him to a labor camp.

His family rushed to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp, where they saw Mr. Wang, now skinny and limping. He told them that he was tortured and interrogated by the National Security Team in Linjiang City. They tortured him for his name and address. Because he refused to give his name, the police simply assigned him a pseudonym and sent him to the labor camp for two years.

Mr. Wang's family went to the Jilin Provincial Public Security Department to protest and urged them to reconsider and revoke his labor camp sentence, but they were ignored. Mr. Wang Zhidong was then transferred to Fenjing Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

Details of His Arrest and Torture

On the evening of June 22, 2011, Mr. Wang was at the home of his friend, Mr. Wang Ming, in Lingjiang City when he suddenly heard a commotion. Someone opened the window and jumped into the room. The intruder and police officers from downstairs pushed him down and handcuffed his hands behind his back. They dragged him downstairs by his belt and forced him into a car.

After he got out of the car, the police dragged the barefoot Mr. Wang 70 or 80 meters inside the station. They yelled, “What's your name? Where do you come from? What are you doing in Linjiang City?” He did not answer. The police searched him and seized two cell phones and 1,500 yuan in cash. They then dragged him to the basement and tied him to an iron chair. His hands and feet were bound tightly and he could not move. A head police officer came in and kicked Mr. Wang’s legs. He also stepped on Mr. Wang's bare feet. They screamed at him to get him to reveal his identity, but Wang Zhidong refused to say anything. His legs were numb, his toenails had been ground off, and he was bleeding.

At around 10:00 a.m. the next morning, the police released him from the iron chair, dragged him out of the basement, assigned him a pseudonym, and put him in the detention center. He was told that he would be detained for 15 days. Fifteen days later he was send to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City to serve a two-year term under his pseudonym.

Mr. Wang was later transferred to Changchun City Fenjing Forced Labor Camp. His physical condition has deteriorated, and he often suffers from nausea and vomiting and other symptoms.
