Ms. Guo Yingjie Detained for Nine Months After Telephone Call to the Jilin Mayor

Aug. 7, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) A woman from Jilin City was arrested and has been detained for nine months for making a non-threatening phone call to the mayor. Her friend was also involved, and tortured, as police tried to extort false evidence.

Ms. Guo Yingjie, 54, has been fined, detained, and sentenced many times because she is a Falun Dafa practitioner. In 2012, Ms. Guo made prerecorded calls about the persecution to mayor Zhang Xiaopei and police officers. She was arrested on July 31, 2012, and incarcerated in the Jilin City Detention Center.

Her case is at the highest level, and Zhang Xiaopei is directly in charge. The members of the case team came from the Jilin City National Security Department, Domestic Security Division, Police Department, Changyi District Police Department, Changyi District Criminal Brigade, and the Zhanqian Police Station.

Young Ms. Guo Yingjie

Ms. Guo's parents are in their nineties and live in Kouqian Town, Yongji County. Ms. Guo often visits and takes care of them. Officers arrested her at the home of her parents at around 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2012, and illegally searched the house. The police then searched her home in Jilin City.

Practitioner Mr. Cao Yang and his friend Mr. Zhu Bolin went that evening to visit Ms. Guo. They entered her home and found no one inside. They packed up some Falun Dafa books for her, and then left. At the top of the stairway, a dozen officers stopped them, pushed them to the ground, and then searched Ms. Guo's home.

Police Try to Fabricate Evidence

The police interrogated Mr. Cao and Mr. Zhu separately. They ordered Mr. Cao to curse Falun Gong, and tried to make him to say that some of their items were from Ms. Guo's home. Mr. Cao refused to lie, so they then poured cold wine into Mr. Cao's nose, and he almost suffocated. They brought torture devices, such as metal needles and bamboo picks. They also brought in a vicious dog. Four of the perpetrators claimed that they were from the Changyi District Police Department.

The officers from the Zhanqian Police Station threatened Ms. Guo's family, saying that her two cell phones were evidence.

Persecuted Many Times

Ms. Guo was arrested in Beijing in September 1999 for appealing for the right to practice Falun Dafa. She was first detained at the Beijing Shunyi Detention Center, where she went on a four-day hunger strike to protest the persecution. Two weeks later, she was handed over to the police from Jilin and taken to the Kouqian Town Detention Center in Yongji County, where she was detained.

Ms. Guo went to Beijing in October 2000, to appeal for the second time. She was arrested, taken back to Jilin, and detained at the Kouqian Town Detention Center for three months. She refused to write a statement renouncing Dafa, and was suspended for a year from her job. During that year, she was not able to find work. Her husband did only odd jobs, and all the savings for their family had been extorted by the police. Their child was in college and the expenses were high. She had to borrow more than 10,000 yuan from her sisters to make ends meet, but she did not give up.

She was reported in 2002 for talking about the persecution to a customer. The police went to her office, but she happened to be out, and the police forced her work unit to suspend her job again. She was spared arrest, but the Kouqian Police Department extorted 5,000 yuan from her. She returned to work in 2003.

Officers from the Yongji County Police Department and Jilin Police Department arrested Ms. Guo at home on the night of February 3, 2005, and detained her at the Jilin No. 3 Detention Center. They searched her home and confiscated her Falun Dafa books, printouts, computer, and printer.

The police interrogated her many times before she was transferred to the Jilin No. 1 Detention Center. When she went on hunger strike several times to protest her arrest, and she was persecuted even more severely.

The Yongji County court sentenced Ms. Guo to six years in prison on June 8, 2005, and she refused to sign the verdict. Her health deteriorated in the detention center, and the prison twice refused to admit her because of her condition.

Tortured in Prison

Ms. Guo was taken to the Heizuizi Women's Prison in Changchun. The prison administrators first put her in a brainwashing session, and she was punished for not giving up her belief. They forced her to stand from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and sometimes until midnight, except for five-minute meal breaks. After a period of time, they forced her to sit on a small bench, also from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Torture re-enactment: Stretching bed

The guards subsequently subjected Ms. Guo to a torture called “the stretching bed,” where the victim's hands and feet are fastened to bedposts, and the victim's body is hung above the bed. Eating and restroom use are all on the bed. Some practitioners' wrists and ankles rotted from this torture.

The guards then had an even crueler way to torment Ms. Guo. They took out the middle bed board, then hung her hands and feet so her back and forelegs were cut by the corners of the remaining bed boards. To hide their torture from others, the guards tortured her at night. She would lose consciousness because of the pain after midnight, as the cuffs cut into her body.
