(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hong Xiaolin has been detained in the No. 3 Prison in Tianshui City, Gansu Province since he was sentenced to a four-and-a-half-year prison term. His physical condition is currently very poor, and he has to rely on medical intervention to sustain his life.

Hong Xiaolin, 55, is from Zhangjiachuan County, Tianshui City. He is a physician from the radiation department of the Longshan Township Health Center in Zhangjiachuan County. He was arrested on May 27, 2012 by the Zhangjiachuan County Police Department. Ma Xiaowu from the Domestic Security Division, along with staff from the Tianshui City 610 Office, broke into the homes of more than ten Falun Gong practitioners late on the evening of May 27, 2012. They confiscated computers and arrested more than ten practitioners, including Mr. Hong Xiaolin and Mr. Xu Baoguo. Mr. Hong was detained in the Zhangjiachuan Detention Center

Mr. Hong was previously very healthy, but torture and beatings in the detention center have caused a variety of physical symptoms, including heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and swelling in parts of his body.

The Zhangjiachuan County Court secretly tried twelve Falun Gong practitioners, including Mr. Hong Xiaolin, Mr. Xu Baoguo and Mr. Hong Liang, on November 28, 2012. The courtroom was full of police officers trying to stop any outside Falun Gong practitioners from entering the courtroom. The court allowed only one family member to observe the trial. However it was difficult to verify just who was on trial, as at 8:30 a.m., before the trial started, the police covered several male Falun Gong practitioners with black head masks before allowing them into the courtroom.

The Zhangjiachuan County Court tried these practitioners again around December 20, 2012, without any public notification. Mr. Xu Baoguo was sentenced to a five-year prison term. Mr. Hong Xiaolin was sentenced to four and half years in prison. Mr. Li Wenwen and Mr. Hong Liang were sentenced to four-year prison terms. Mr. Ding Xijun was sentenced to a three-year term. Mr. Hong Xiaolin's physical condition is currently very poor.

According to reports from the Minghui website, seven Falun Gong practitioners from Tianshui City have already died due to persecution. Ms. Cheng Guilan and Mr. Huang Lizhi from Group 213 of the Ministry of Nuclear Industry were both killed by brutal beatings delivered by police. Ms. Liu Wenyu, a retired medical worker, died from injuries sustained during torture in a labor camp. Six other Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Zhai Fengci and Mr. Zhang Run, were permanently disabled, with Zhang Run becoming blind.

Thirty Falun Gong practitioners were also sentenced to prison, and there were 42 cases of Falun Gong practitioners sentenced to labor camps. Fourteen practitioners have been forced to leave their homes to avoid further persecution. There were also 527 cases of Falun Gong practitioners being illegally detained.
