Recent Arrests of Many Practitioners in Panjin City, Liaoning Province

Jan. 26, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) There have been many arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in Panjin City, Liaoning Province since last April, by officers from local police stations and the Liaohe Oilfield Domestic Security Division in Panjin City.

In early April 2013, Ms. Jiao Yan mailed letters to relatives and friends, clarifying the facts of Falun Dafa. She was riding her bicycle home when two plainclothes police officers rushed up and grabbed her. Ms. Jiao tried to explain to them that she had not done anything illegal. They ignored her and went through her belongings.

Ms. Jiao was then taken to the Zhenxing Police Station. Her request to talk to their supervisor was denied. The officers took Ms. Jiao to the Panjin City Detention Center, where she was held for 15 days. They extorted 350 yuan from her before she was released. They also confiscated the letters that she had on her that had not yet been mailed, along with other items. The police warned Ms. Jiao not to send such letters again.

Ms. Wang was arrested by officers from the Zhenxing Police Station in mid-November 2013, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was also distributing 2014 Minghui Calenders that have information about Falun Gong. Ms. Wang was forced to sign her name and have her photo taken. She was released after a member of her family promised to monitor her.

Ms. Zhang Ying was arrested by several police officers from the Zhenxing Police Station for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong and distributing 2014 Minghui calenders. This took place in Xinglongtai, Panjin City on the evening of November 23, 2013. She exclaimed, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” as officers rushed up to her and grabbed her by her arms and legs.

The police forced Ms. Zhang into a car. One officer suggested covering her mouth so that she couldn't make a sound. Ms. Zhang could hardly breathe as she was being forced into the car. The police told her that they would release her if she signed the list of confiscated items and told them where she lived. She did as they asked; however, they did not release her.

The police took Ms. Zhang to the Panjin City Central Hospital for a physical examination on the afternoon of November 24, 2013. They then sent her to the Panjin City Detention Center. The detention center would not accept her because it was discovered that she had a heart condition. The officers had no choice but to release her. They told Ms. Zhang to have another physical examination later and to let them know the results.

Chief Li, the deputy chief from the Liaohe Oilfield Domestic Security Division, along with other officers forced their way into Ms. Du Guiqin's home at the Xingfu Residential Quarters on November 25, 2013. They attempted to arrest Ms. Du with a video as so-called criminal proof (they had previously videotaped Ms. Du in secret while she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong to others). Ms. Du refused to go with them. Officers Li and Xu returned to her home the morning of December 3. They forced her son to miss work, and to stay home watching his mother from December 3 to December 6, 2013.

A group of officers from the Liaohe Oilfield Domestic Security Division knocked on the door of Ms. Tang Guiqiu's home in the afternoon of December 25, 2013. Ms. Tang refused to open the door. The police called her son to come home and open the door for them.

They rudely rushed in, taking photos and rummaging through chests and cupboards. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, informational brochures and DVDs about Falun Gong, electronic books, a DVD player and other miscellaneous items. The police had with them a photo of Ms. Tang distributing informational material about Falun Gong that they had previously taken of her, without her knowledge or consent. They were using this photo as proof of her so-called “criminal activity” [Ed. note: practicing Falun is not illegal in China]. Ms. Tang refused to go with them.

Officers from the Chuangxin Police Station in Xinglongtai District, including Liu Ji and Ji Qiang, and more than ten officers from the Zhenxing Police Station barged into Ms. Xie's home in Xinglongtai District during the morning of November 27, 2013. Officer Lu led the group.

They searched the home, confiscated belongings, took photos, and then arrested Ms. Xie, 76, and two other elderly people in their 70s who were visiting Ms. Xie. They were interrogated in the police station, then released. Ms. Xie was extremely frightened by this experience, and has since left home.

Ms. Li Juan from Zhengjia Village, Shaling Town, Panshan County, Panjin City was arrested on December 13, 2013 by agents from the Panshan County Political and Security Section, the Shanling Town Police Department and the Zhengjia Police Station. Her home was ransacked. She was released on December 16, 2013.
