Ms. Wei Xiuying Remains in Liaoning Women's Prison Despite Her Poor Physical Condition

Jan. 4, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Wei Xiuying is currently being held in Ward No. 11 of the Liaoning Women's Prison, in the section for elderly and disabled Falun Gong practitioners.

Because she refused to renounce her belief in Falun Gong, she has been tortured and is in poor physical condition, displaying heart disease symptoms, among other illnesses. Her family unsuccessfully requested time and time again that she be released for medical treatment.

Ms. Wei's younger sister visited her in November 2013, and learned that her sister had collapsed and was bedridden for more than 20 days.

The guards agreed to allow her to be released on medical parole, but in return demanded that the Ms. Wei's family pay 3,000 yuan. But Ms. Wei is still being held in the prison and the family is very worried about her.

Remaining Steadfast Despite Adversities

Ms. Wei Xiuying, 66, is from Jincheng Town, Linghai City, Liaoning Province. She was arrested at her home on April 17, 2009, and taken to a prison where she was subjected to various types of torture.

She was sentenced to a seven-year prison term and taken to the Liaoning Women's Prison. Despite torture and death threats, she refused to renounce her belief in Falun Gong.

The guards assigned a death row prisoner with the last name of Qi to brutally beat her, which has caused broken teeth.

United Nations Human Rights Council Reviewing Ms. Wei's Case

When Ms. Wei was arrested at her home, her second daughter was verbally abused and threatened by police. This prompted a mental collapse, from which she never recovered.

Ms. Wei's family is worried about her, so they have traveled from Jincheng Town to the Shenyang Prison every month during the past five years. The cost of traveling increased the family's financial burden, since some of the family members have lost their jobs.

Ms. Wei Xiuying's persecution case was submitted to the United Nations Human Rights Council in August 2009.

We hope more people take note of Ms. Wei's case, help end the torture, and free her.
