Inner Mongolia Woman Detained Again Five Days after First Release

Oct. 15, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Inner Mongolia, China

(Minghui.org) Within two-and-a-half months, Ms. Wang Yulan (王玉兰), 57, from Bairin Left Banner, Chifeng City, was arrested twice. The second arrest took place five days after she was first released from the detention center. She was detained for a total of 74 days.

On September 10, 2014, Ms. Wang and her husband were tricked into going to the Public Security Bureau. Gao Yanguo (高延国), Wang Lixin (王立新), Zhang Xiaodong (张晓东), and Liu Jun (刘军) from the 610 Office told the couple they could come to the bureau and get their personal items that were confiscated from their home. Ms. Wang was arrested when she got there and sent to the brainwashing center for 20 days. This was her second arrest.

The officers at the brainwashing center seized Ms. Wang's hand to force her to sign a guarantee statement on September 29, 2014, before she was released the next day.

Harassed and Deprived of Sleep in the Brainwashing Center

At the brainwashing center, Ms. Wang tried telling the officers about Falun Gong. They refused to listen. Three more practitioners were admitted to the center on Ms. Wang's third day there. Those in charge tried to force the practitioners to listen to slanderous recordings about Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang refused to listen and was carried to a meeting room. Her blood pressure shot up. The next day, she was forced to watch a DVD that defamed Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang started a hunger strike on September 22, 2014 in protest. The brainwashing center officers then played slanderous audio recordings in her room and didn't let her sleep. Her chest started to hurt, and she had a fever and sweat profusely.

On the afternoon of September 26, 2014, brainwashing center officials and several inmates threatened to call her family in to take her to the hospital for an IV if she still refused to eat. Then they would take her to the detention center.

The officers tried everything they could think of to “transform” Ms. Wang. One inmate told her that she would be force-fed if she didn't eat. Another inmate said, “If I give you a shot, you will change and no longer be yourself.” She was also told that she would be sent to a forced labor camp. She was even promised welfare benefits if she agreed to "transform."

First Arrest and Home Ransacked

Ms. Wang was first arrested on July 13, 2014, with fellow practitioner Ms. Li Yufen when they were telling people about Falun Gong in another village. They were reported and arrested by Bairin Public Security Bureau officers.

Ms. Wang's house was ransacked and numerous personal items and cash were taken by the police when no one was at home.

They also raided Ms. Li house and arrested her sister, Ms. Li Yumei, and another practitioner, Ms Hou Guilan, who were present at the time. The latter was released on medical parole.

After being detained for 54 days, Ms. Wang was released on September 5, 2014. The Li sisters are still in the detention center.
