Nov. 13, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Henan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Chang Xinqin, a teacher from Pingdingshan, was tried at Ruzhou City Court on the morning of October 22, 2014. Mr. Chang and his attorney pleaded not guilty, but the judge stopped their defense statements.

Mr. Chang's wife gave the judge Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials and said, “You have deprived me of my right to speak. Therefore, I suggest that you read these materials after the trial.”

Mr. Chang was reported for distributing Shen Yun DVDs in Niuzhuang, Wangzhai Township, Ruzhou City on the morning of June 22, 2014. Officers from the Wangzhai Township Police Station illegally arrested him. Cheng Jianyang, the chief of the police station, and three officers ransacked his home.

At the Ruzhou City Detention Center, guards slapped him dozens of times, and the injuries were clearly visible in court.

Mr. Chang, 50, is a former teacher from the Pingdingshan Foreign Language School and a graduate of Henan University.

He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and is well respected at work. Even an officer from the Domestic Security Division said, “How do you have such a good relationship with people from your school? No one says a bad word about you.”

Since the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), he has been arrested, detained, sentenced to forced labor and prison for more than six years. He was monitored while still employed at the school for over a year, and was fired after his release from the Zhengzhou Prison in 2009.
