Correcting Each Other's Exercise Movements

Nov. 17, 2014 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) I have been practicing Falun Gong for four and a half years. I joined a local Fa study group with seven to eight practitioners, and we have been studying the Fa together for over two years. We never practiced the exercises together, but only corrected the movements in individual cases. I did not expect that veteran practitioners of nearly 20 years would have incorrect movements.

A practitioner recently came to my home. We watched the video of Master's exercise instruction of the fifth exercise repeatedly, and corrected movements for one another. A thought came up that we should ask everyone to practice the exercises together the next week, and correct each other's movements.

It was raining, and only four practitioners showed up. A practitioner, who was over 70 years old said, “I do not need the music for the exercises, as I do the first, third and fourth exercises three times in 15 minutes. We asked him to the do the fifth exercise, and he did the hand gestures very fast, and the movements were highly irregular. We were stunned, as his movements were more like he was doing tai chi – and this after nearly 20 years of practicing Falun Gong.

Seeing the seriousness of the problem, we watched Master's exercise teaching video together. One person then practiced while three others watched from different angles. Everyone pointed out any problems, and then took a turn. We watched the video again when there was a disagreement.

Practitioners who have incorrect movements need to carefully watch the exercise instruction video and The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection, learn the exercises from the beginning, and do the movements correctly.

Practitioners in China have lost the environment of practicing in a group due to the Chinese Communist Party's persecution. I live in a medium-sized city. Practitioners are busy doing the three things, and we spend more time studying the Fa and sharing, but take very little time to practice the exercises together. We usually practice at home by ourselves, therefore, we do not recognize our incorrect movements. I wonder whether the incorrect exercise movements, if done over a long time, have anything to do with some practitioners' abnormal physical state.

I suggest that practitioners have regular group exercise practice and pay attention to correcting each other's movements.
