Three Women Sentenced for Planning to Distribute Materials Exposing the Persecution of Falun Gong

Nov. 21, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Yunnan province, China

(Minghui.org) Two dozen police officers surrounded four women, as the women got off a bus, and snatched their backpacks, which contained materials that exposed the persecution of Falun Gong.

The four Falun Gong practitioners, from Qujing City, Yunnan Province, had planned to distribute the materials in Sanbao Town on November 12, 2013, but were arrested even before they got started. It became clear to them that the police had been following them for a while.

All four women were interrogated at the police station before being driven back to their homes. The police confiscated personal belongings, including computers, DVDs, Falun Gong books, and printers.

Ms. Su Shuzhen (苏淑珍), a retired employee of the Qujing City Hydropower Bureau, was released on bail that same day. Ms. He Yunxian (何云仙) was also let go.

Ms. Li Hongmei (李红梅) and Ms. Wang Ruilan (汪瑞岚) were sent to Qilin District Detention Center, where they remain today.

Qilin District Court tried Ms. Su, Ms. Li and Ms. Wang on September 11, 2014, charging them with “using a cult organizaton to sabortage law enforcement,” a ploy frequently used by the Chinese Communist Party to frame and sentence Falun Gong practitioners.

Judge Yan Xianghe issued his verdict two months later in November, sentencing Ms. Li and Ms. Su to four-year prison terms, and Ms. Wang to three years.

Ms. Su refused to sign the verdict, and has ten days to file her appeal.
