(Minghui.org) Ms. Xia Xiuwen from Ni'erji Town in Inner Mongolia was arrested by the local police on November 31, 2013. She was interrogated, and then detained and persecuted at the brainwashing center in the Sigeteng Hotel in New Barag Right Banner. She was finally released on December 14, 2013. Below is her personal account of persecution.
My name is Xia Xiuwen. I am 51 years old, from Ni'erji Town, Molidawa Dawo'Er Autonomous Banner, Hulunber City in Inner Mongolia. I was walking on Batehan Street in Ni'erji early in the afternoon of November 31, 2013, and met another Falun Dafa practitioner riding a bicycle. We walked together for awhile, and then she left. I went to a shoe shop to check if my shoe had been repaired yet, but it wasn't ready so I went to the market.
I didn't realize that a woman named Jiang from the local domestic security division was following me and had reported me to the police. As I walked past the Materials Bureau building, a police vehicle stopped beside me. Officers Zhang Baiming and Huang from the domestic security division, Su Xiaoming from the Second Police Station, and the person named Jiang were in the car. I was arrested and taken to the Second Police Station, where Zhang Baiming ordered Jiang to search me. I was then interrogated.
Su Xiaoming scolded me furiously, and wanted to know who the woman was that I was walking with. I remained calm and said: “Several people walked with me today. Which one are you asking about?” They wanted to know about the woman with the bicycle. Su produced a CD of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and asked if I had distributed it and what the content was. I simply replied, “If you want to know, you can play it.”
Jiang, Su Xiaoming and Zhang Baiming then wrote a false accusation statement and told me to admit that I'd distributed the Nine Commentaries CD. But I hadn't, so I tore up their statement. Zhang became really angry. They wrote another statement and attempted to put my fingerprint on it. But I resisted. They then took me out of the interrogation room to the police department, along with the false statement. Two hours later, they went to search my home. I wasn't at home very often and let my friend stay there, so they didn't find what they were looking for. Without notifying my family, they took me to the detention center.
The officers from the domestic security division and Su Xiaoming violated Article 238 of the criminal law for illegally arresting and detaining me. I intend to pursue legal action in order to hold them responsible for their crimes.
On the fourth day of my detention, Jiang came to the detention center to take my photograph and told me to sign my name, but I refused. Zhang Baiming and Huang came to the detention center early the following morning and ordered that I be taken to the brainwashing center in the Sigeteng Hotel in New Barag Right Banner (also known as Xiqi). I was driven in a car with Cai Xinguo, Du Yanbo and Gao Huan from the Buxi Residential Committee, and officer Lu Shuyuan from the Moqi Domestic Security Division.
We drove for nine hours before finally arriving at the Sigeteng Hotel, where Tian Pu, head of Hulunber Domestic Security Division, was waiting for us. People from the hotel took us to a room to rest, and then I was taken to another room. Three people pretending to be hotel staff then came in. Although I was tired from the long journey, my mind was very clear. I knew that they were here to try to get me to renounce my belief. The room had three beds; I stayed in the same room with the three people from the Buxi Residential Committee. I later found out that the room had listening devices planted in there and that the three people from the residential committee had their cell phones monitored. I went on a hunger strike for nine days to protest this persecution.
I was able to find out one of the residential committee’s password to their cellphone and used it to call my family at 3:00 a.m. on December 8 while everyone was asleep. I informed them of my detainment at the Sigeteng Hotel Brainwashing Center, as I was not sure how long I would be held there. I was concerned that my 81-year-old mother living in my home would be really worried about me.
During my detention, practitioners from mainland China and overseas made many truth clarification phone calls to the CCP officials in an attempt to rescue me. Their actions greatly shocked the authorities. Tian Pu interrogated me on several occasions. I only told him about Falun Dafa, and that I'd held a firm belief in the practice for the past 17 years. I then told him that Master Li was given the award for “Outstanding Spiritual Leader” and had been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize four times. I also informed him that I'd never betray Master and the Fa, and would firmly safeguard Dafa. Tian Pu failed to get me to renounce my belief.
Cheng Hao, who'd pretended to be one of the staff at the hotel, tried to force me to watch a video slandering Falun Dafa, but I refused. Collaborators Shang Huiying and Guo Junxiu had changed Master's words to the new Fa lectures and tried to read them to me, but I did not listen. None of their efforts worked in trying to get me to renounce my belief.
A woman from the Women's Federation in Evenk Banner, Lu Shuyuan and a collaborator tried to deprive me of sleep on the night of December 12. When I protested their actions, they threatened to put me on trial in court.
I was very weak on December 11 due to the hunger strike, so a doctor was brought in to check my blood pressure and physical condition. Zhang Baiming then contacted my family on December 13, informing them that they could pick me up at the hotel.
Zhang also told my family that because I went on a hunger strike, they had to pay over 3,000 yuan for their travel expenses. My sister was furious and said: “First, you arrest my sister without providing any legal documentation. Then you took her directly to the detention center without notifying us. This was all done in violation of the law.”
A vehicle was then arranged to pick me up. Luo from the Moqi Government Office, Wang Yangtai from the Moqi 610 Office, Lu Shuyuan, Cai Xinguo, He Baotai from Zharumutai Town (who used to be a practitioner but was forced, under torture, to renounce her belief in Falun Dafa) and my sister were in the car as we left the brainwashing center in the Sigeteng Hotel on December 14, 2013.
The brainwashing center inside the Sigeteng Hotel was established by the Hulunber Domestic Security Division. They named it “Legal Education Program” in order to cover their crimes of illegally depriving practitioner's of their freedom and trying to brainwash them with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s lies and propaganda. The people there do not follow any legal procedures and hold practitioners there against their will.
I had previously been arrested, detained and had my belongings confiscated by police from Nehe City in Heilongjiang Province for tapping into the local cable TV network to broadcast the truth about the CCP's fabricated Tiananmen Square Self-immolation incident. I was later sentenced to four years in prison at the Nehe City Court, and was taken to the Heilongjiang Women's Prison, where I suffered brutal physical and emotional persecution.
