(Minghui.org) I recently learned that a passenger from Changchun City, Jilin Province, was detained during a security check at Longjia Airport in Changchun City on January 21, 2014, ostensibly because he had a Falun Dafa amulet in his luggage. The airport authorities called 14 police officers to the scene to detain and interrogate him.
According to a witness, the passenger was detained for over two hours and his ticket was canceled, so he had to buy another one for 1,300 yuan.
Another likely reason for the harassment is the fact that the passenger's name is pronounced the same as Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong.
An elderly Falun Gong practitioner from Wuhan City, Hubei Province, was arrested at the Wuchang Railroad Station ticket checkpoint on February 2, 2014. It is possible that she was arrested because her name is on a blacklist. One of the police officers claimed that he carried out the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) orders because it pays his wages.
Another practitioner, Mr. Jiang Derong, from Yingshan County, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, was asked to produce his identification card at the railroad station's ticket checkpoint at around 5 o'clock on January 4, 2014. He was arrested on the spot. The next afternoon, his home in Yingshan County was ransacked. His whereabouts are unknown.
Longjia Airport authorities arrested practitioner Ms. Li Yan, 69, a retired teacher from the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences, on November 14, 2012. Ms. Li's husband was also arrested and both were taken to the Jilin City Detention Center.
