Former Administrative Executive Ms. Li Wei Arrested for the 4th Time During Congress

April 1, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Jiangsu Province, China

(Minghui.org) It has been 21 days since Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Wei was illegally arrested. Her whereabouts are still unknown.

The day of National People's Congress was held on March 5, 2014, Ms. Li and six other practitioners from Nanjing City were arrested by officers from the 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, and Dongshan Police Station.

Prior to the congress, several practitioners in Nanjing received warnings from government officials who secretly support Falun Gong, that the police were planning to arrest and harass them during the conference.

This is the fourth time Ms. Li has been arrested. She has been demoted and expelled from two different workplaces in the past 15 years for practicing Falun Gong.

Administrative Executive Demoted

By the time Ms. Li was in her 20s, she was already an administrative executive at a joint venture company in Shandong Province. Before the persecution started in 1999, she was often selected as the interpreter when national leaders came to visit her company.

Afraid that she might mention the persecution while she was interpreting, the police pressured her company's Party committee, and she was demoted to a regular worker.

Ms. Li went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000. She was arrested and detained at Qi County Detention Center in Henan Province. The police and 610 Office personnel extorted money from her several times.

Later, she became homeless and had to wander about to escape from the persecution. She was arrested again in Jiangsu Province in 2005. She was sentenced to prison for six years and detained at Nantong Women's Prison. In 2009, she was released on parole.

She soon found a job at the Information Technology Engineering Research and Design Institute in Nanjing in 2011. However, the institute's leadership forced her to write a statement renouncing her belief, otherwise she would have to give up the job.

She was arrested for the third time on October 12, 2012. She was detained at Judong Women's Forced Labor Camp.

After she was released from the labor camp, she found a job at a Korean company in Nanjing.

She has now been arrested for the fourth time.

Of the other six practitioners who were arrested that day, Ms. Cheng Haiyan, Ms. Zhu Defeng and Ms. Li Qingzhi have been released.

Practitioners Mr. Ma Mingjie, Mr. Wang Longxiang, Mr. Zhu Hefei and Mr. Ma Zhenyu are still in custody.
