Summary Report: The Persecution of Falun Gong in Guangdong Province Women's Prison

(Minghui.org) The Women's Prison in Guangdong Province, China has been one of the most notorious facilities for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since the Chinese communist regime began the persecution in 1999. Many Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death or disabled in this prison. Among the various the tortures used there, injections of unidentified drugs is the most commonly reported.

Numerous reports published on the Minghui website have detailed persecution cases from the Guangdong Women's Prison. This article provides a brief overview of the persecution that has taken place there.

The prison is located in Zhuliao Town, Baiyun District, Guangzhou City, and is comprised of ten wards. The prison holds two brainwashing sessions every year in the 4 th ward. Peng XX, head of the 4 th ward, and Tang Huifang, a policewoman in the ward, are usually in charge of the brainwashing sessions.

The 4 th ward building has five floors, and 12 solitary cells on each floor from the 2 nd to the 5 th . During the brainwashing sessions, each Falun Gong practitioner is put in solitary confinement, and are forced to read and watch materials that slander Falun Gong. They are also physically tortured if they refuse to renounce their beliefs. Every behavior, even the number of bathroom breaks, is watched and regulated by the prison guards.

Select Cases of Practitioners Tortured to Death in Guangdong Women's Prison

Li Shaonan (林少娜) was arrested on September 2, 2009, when she was seen talking about Falun Gong in public. She was sentenced to three years and jailed in the prison. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2010. The head of 610 Office of the Prison, Jiang XX (police ID: 4455467) did not permit medical parole.

After she underwent surgery, she was jailed in the prison for two more years, until she was in critical condition. Lin Shaona passed away on June 26, 2013, soon after being released.

Zheng Guiyou (郑贵友), 48, is from Huidong County, Guangdong. She was arrested on September 22, 2007, and had been jailed in the Women's Prison for five years. She died as a result of torture on December 30, 2013.

Chen Zhengrong (陈正容), 60, from Zunyi, Guizhou Province, lived in Guangdong. She and her husband were arrested in 2010, and she was sentenced to a four-year prison term by Longgang District Court in Shenzhen City, and jailed in Guangdong Women's Prison. She died mysteriously three months after being released. Several pinprick holes were found on her arm. Her family suspected that she had been injected with unidentified drugs in the prison, which led to her sudden death.

Huang Dingyou 60, lived in Qiuchang Town, Huizhou City, Guangdong. She was arrested in March 2003, and was sentenced to a five-year term. Though she was healthy, prison personnel often examined her blood, and forced her to take a large amount of unidentified drugs. She was released in July 2007, and diagnosed with late-stage leukemia. She passed away one month later, on August 8, 2007.

Select Cases of Practitioners Suffering Illness or Disability

Chen Xiaoyue was arrested in 2008 and sentenced to a three-year prison term. In the prison, she was injected with unidentified drugs, and developed leukemia. She was released in March 2011. She suffered pain in the chest, lower back, and head, as well as fever. It is suspected that these symptoms were caused by the unidentified drugs.

Wu Zhujun from Huidong County was arrested on September 22, 2007. After being injected with unidentified drugs in the prison, she could not eat, lost the ability to walk, and developed symptoms of mental illness.

Liu Mulan was sentenced by the Huiyang District Court in Huizhou City. On January 10, 2012 she sent to the 4 th ward of the Guangdong Women's Prison. Since she refused to renounce Falun Gong, the prison police claimed that she had hypertension, and added unidentified drugs to her food.

She developed abnormal symptoms within a few months. She often became petrified for no apparent reason, and had illusionary hearing and hallucinations. Her vision was impaired, her legs swollen, and she could not talk well.
