July 9, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Following two arrests in early May 2014, Mr. Wang Zhiwu, 60, was arrested again on May 21 for distributing literature to expose the persecution of Falun Gong. The Congtai District Court in Handan City, Hebei Province, scheduled a trial for July 8.

Mr. Wang's family hired an attorney, who plans to enter an innocent plea. On June 30, the attorney went to meet with Mr. Wang at the Handan No. 2 Detention Center for the third time. However, his visit was denied because Mr. Liu refused to wear an inmate uniform, in protest of his illegal detention.

Mr. Wang was previously arrested on May 5 and May 8 for giving away booklets describing the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong and for using currency with similar messages written on them.

In the past fifteen years, Mr. Wang had been arrested numerous times and detained in Handan No. 1 Detention Center, Handan Brainwashing Center, and Handan Forced Labor Camp. At the labor camp, he was beaten, deprived of sleep for eight days, and hung up for days in the authorities' attempts to force him to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. Nevertheless, Mr. Wang remains steadfast as he faces continued persecution.
