(Minghui.org) Mr. Liao Xiaohong from Chenzhou City in Hunan Province has been on hunger strike to protest his illegal detention since his arrest on August 4, 2014. He is being held at a brainwashing center located in the Beihu District Party School.
Mr. Liao and his wife, Ms. Shi Jiaoyu, were arrested on April 21, 2009. They were taken from their small business at the Liuxian Market in Chenzhou. Officers from the local 610 Office, domestic security division and the police department ransacked their home.
Mr. Liao's young daughter, who was in elementary school at the time, found herself locked out of her own house when she returned home from school that day. She wandered around the neighborhood until dark, crying helplessly.
Ms. Shi was released later that night, but was arrested again on October 14, 2009, by officers from the Beihu Domestic Security Division. Mr. Liao and Ms. Shi were sentenced on December 31, 2009, to three years and three and a half years in prison respectively.
Mr. Liao went to medical school and previously worked in Changsha City. Ms. Shi Jiaoyu used to work in Guangzhou City. The couple have been repeatedly arrested, detained and sentenced since the persecution against Falun Gong started in 1999, for upholding their belief in Falun Gong,
