Aug. 26, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Jiangxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Gaoxiang has been detained in Jiangxi Women’s Prison for nearly a year. The prison has so far denied her family’s requests to visit her.

Based on reliable sources, as soon as she arrived, Ms. Wang became a target for severe persecution. The guards assigned several inmates to restrict her activities. She was not given food, not allowed to use the toilet, and not allowed to sleep. An inmate was assigned to exercise “maximum restriction” on her.

In the past, Jiangxi Women’s Prison was notorious for mistreating Falun Gong practitioners. A number of practitioners suffered mental breakdowns, were seriously injured and in life threatening conditions. Ms. Wang’s family was very worried.

Recap of Timeline

At the end of April 2014, the prison denied visitation requests by Ms. Wang’s husband and her work supervisor, saying April 25 was a sensitive date.

At the end of May, Ms. Wang’s husband returned, hoping to visit her. The prison guards again refused, telling him that Ms. Wang refused to change her position.

Before her husband left, a guard told him that he must get a phone call from the prison before he can come again.

A month later, the family had not received any phone calls, so Ms. Wang’s husband went to the prison at the end of June. But his request to see his wife was rejected again for the third time.

Ms. Wang Gaoxiang, 54, was arrested on November 15, 2012 by Chongren County Police. Her home was searched. She was forced to do manual labor in Fuzhou City Detention Center.

On June 10, 2013, she was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. Her family appealed on her behalf, but the appeal was rejected by the intermediate court. She was sent to Jiangxi Women’s Prison on September 11, 2013.

Prior to this, in 2005, Ms. Wang was illegally sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment for distributing Falun Gong materials. She served in Fuzhou City Women’s Prison, where she was tortured, including being stripped of her clothes and drenched with cold water in winter, and being violently beaten by inmates.
