A Chinese Immigrant's Misunderstandings about Falun Gong Change after Encountering Practitioners in Australia

Aug. 3, 2014 |   By Minghui correspondent Chen Xinning in Brisbane, Australia

(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang immigrated to Australia from China just two weeks ago. In this unfamiliar new environment, struggling with the language barrier and difficulty finding a job, he met two Falun Gong practitioners. The encounters completely dispelled the misunderstandings about Falun Gong he had developed while living in China.

Mr. Wang had dreamed for years of living in the beautiful, natural environment of Australia. Fulfilling his life-long wish, he finally immigrated to Australia, and settled down in Sunnybank, where many Chinese people live.

However, Mr. Wang never anticipated that finding a job would be so difficult. He became depressed. Standing on the street, he saw some Chinese people promoting Falun Gong. Because of the Chinese Communist Party's anti-Falun Gong propaganda in China, he thought that practitioners merely did the exercises on the surface, but were actually carrying out a political agenda.

But two encounters changed his mind.

While waiting at a bus stop, Mr. Wang asked a Chinese woman how to take a bus to a certain place. She carefully explained in detail which bus to take, and after that they chatted. Mr. Wang learned that his new friend had come to Australia because she was being persecuted in China for practicing Falun Gong.

Later the woman gave Mr. Wang her own bus card and said, "You just came to Australia and the fare is quite expensive. Please take this card; it's quite convenient to use to get around."

Mr. Wang felt embarrassed and reluctant to accept her kind offer. The practitioner said, "We practitioners have faith. I hope you realize that I only want the best for you."

Holding the card in his hand, Mr. Wang felt warm in his heart. He recalled, "I finally accepted the card. As I watched her walk away, her ordinary clothes showed that she was not at all affluent. I began thinking about the misunderstanding I had of Falun Gong and practitioners."

Mr. Wang later had an opportunity to talk with another Falun Gong practitioner in Sunnybank for about an hour. The practitioner told him the history of Falun Gong, how it's widely practiced worldwide, and about practitioners' persistent efforts to raise awareness of the persecution, especially the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) systematic and state-sanctioned crime of forced organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners.

Mr. Wang said, "She patiently listened to me, and sincerely answered every question I raised. I suddenly realized: Falun Gong is not at all being 'political!'"

The practitioner also told Mr. Wang of her experiences during 15 years of cultivation and the positive changes she experienced both physically and mentally. Amazed, Mr. Wang said with admiration, "Wow! 15 years is quite a long period of time!"

Mr. Wang understood that the Communist Party has done many bad things and will soon be punished. He asked the practitioner to help him quit the CCP organizations using his real name.

Although they may seem coincidental, these two encounters with Falun Gong practitioners left a deep impression on Mr. Wang. He said, "I've been deeply thinking everything over. I strongly feel that Falun Gong people are actually a group of ordinary citizens who have faith, and who are kind and warmhearted. They expose the CCP's evil deeds not to seize power, but instead, they are courageously standing up to the persecution. I was fooled by the CCP's propaganda when I was in China; now I understand."

"Who has driven good Chinese people to leave their homeland? Actually everybody knows who the real culprit is!" Mr. Wang exclaimed.
