Female Dietitian Forbidden to Plead Not Guilty

Sept. 18, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) A female dietitian was illegally arrested one month ago, but her family was told not to hire a lawyer from other places or enter a not-guilty plea for her.

Fifteen people from the Pingdu 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, and Chengguan Police Station, broke into Ms. Qi Yaoyuan's home on July 23, 2014. They ransacked her home and confiscated a printer, computer, DVD burner and other Falun Gong truth clarification materials. They took her to the Chengguan Police Station. She was later transferred to the Qingdao No. 3 Detention Center. Her case has been submitted to the Procuroratorate.

The police forbid her to see her family. Guo Yucheng, the deputy director of the Pingdu City 610 Office, told the family: “You can only hire a local lawyer. You cannot hire an outside lawyer to enter a not-guilty plea for her. If you do, the lawyer will not be allowed in the courtroom.”

Ms. Qi, 40, is a dietitian. She and her husband own a food store for diabetic patients. She practices Falun Gong and follows the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Because she is honest and always thinks of others first, she has won the trust of many patients.

Her customers were shocked upon learning about her arrest and are willing to sign the petition letter to the authorities to release her.
