Mengyin Farmer Illegally Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison, Her Son Distraught

Sept. 20, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shan Fugui of Tanbu Village, Tanbu Town, Mengyin County, Shandong Province was arrested at her home by the police on March 22, 2014, and sentenced to three years of imprisonment. She's been tortured so badly that she has been disfigured. She has been transferred to the Jinan Women's Prison.

Arrested and Sentenced

On the evening of March 22, 2014, Ma Lin, captain of the Yedian Township Police Station, and officers Peng Tao, Zhu Changbo, and Wang Jiang drove to Ms. Shan's home and arrested her. They ransacked her house and confiscated all of her Falun Gong informational materials such as DVDs. They threw all of her clothes on the floor and made a terrible mess. They interrogated her son and threatened to throw his mother in prison if he didn't cooperate with them.

On April 5, Ms. Shan's son and her mother went to see her in Mengyin Detention Center. When they got there, they found out that she had been transferred to Linyi Detention Center. They went home, saddened that they could not see her.

When they went to Linyi Detention Center to see her several days later, the guards told them that no one but her lawyer had the right to visit her since she was under criminal prosecution. The news was a great shock to her son. They returned home again.

On July 21 Ms. Shan was tried in Mengyin County Court, by judge Zhong, female, about 45. “Falun Gong” was not mentioned during the proceedings. Six days later Ms. Shan was sentenced to three years in prison.

When Ms. Shan got out of the police car to enter the courthouse, two guards had to carry her. She looked tired, and her hair was disheveled. She was wearing handcuffs and her legs were shackled. Her parents and son couldn't even recognize her at first.

Son Traumatized, Husband Passes Away

Due to the constant police intimidation and threats, Ms. Shan's 18-year-old son Gong Ding has been traumatized. He locks himself in his room all day and doesn't see anyone. Since he doesn't know how to cook, he often goes hungry. He looks very feeble and cannot walk straight.

Over the years that the Chinese communist regime has persecuted his mother for practicing Falun Gong, Gong Ding's life has been full of hardship.

Because of the repeated harassment, intimidation, detention, brainwashing, and large fines, Ms. Shan's husband developed heart trouble, hypertension, kidney failure, and other ailments. Having had no money for treatment, he died last year, tens of thousands of yuan in debt.

Prior Incidents of Persecution

Ms. Shan made a living sewing clothes at home for others. Due to her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. In the winter of 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but was arrested, detained and sent back to her hometown. At that time, she was breast-feeding her son. The local government extorted 6,000 yuan from her.

The following year, Ms. Shan was forcibly taken to a brainwashing center, where center employees tried to extort 2,000 yuan from her. Because she didn't pay the fine, guards Pan Yushan and Zhao Dong beat her violently. They held her down and hit her with a wooden stick. Her back and buttocks turned black and purple. They tried to “reform” her by ordering her to curse the founder of Falun Gong. She was beaten when she refused to cooperate.

Torture re-enactment: Beatings

In the spring of 2006, Li Haitao, captain of the Tanbu Town Police Station, and over a dozen government officials broke into Ms. Shan's house and arrested her again. She was sentenced to two years of imprisonment. At that time, her son was only eight years old. He lived with his father and went through a lot of hardships.
